"I am only a dream..." Tidus is the protagonist and a skilled seventeen year old blitzball player who is later discovered to be a dream of the Fayth. Though Tidus is his official name, the player has the option of naming him at the beginning of the game. For this reason, his name is never spoken in-game.
He plays for the Zanarkand Abes — whom his father also played for — and washes up on the Spira mainland after being attacked by Sin during a blitzball game. He quickly becomes one of Yuna's guardians and is described near the end of the game as the greatest guardian of all time. Tidus is usually a cheerful and confident person. Throughout the game, he finds himself coming to terms with his father, Jecht; dealing with his increasing fondness for Yuna and the implications of her pilgrimage; and discovering how and why he is a dream of the fayth.
Tidus uses longswords, in contrast to Auron's two-handed swords -- Tidus's are light and used with one hand; his armour consists of different small shields. His Celestial Weapon is "Caladbolg", and his Overdrives are Swordplay. His role in combat is more of a Time Mage, using skills like Haste/Hastega, Slow/Slowga, Delay Attack/Buster, and Quick Hit -- his physical strength is average, with his speed being above average . But when this character has been moved across the sphere grid, he can out-fight all other characters. His four Overdrives are: Spiral Cut, Slice and Dice, Energy Rain, and Blitz Ace.
