We try to put on the extravaganza of a Pink Floyd show and the energy of early hardcore shows, but we're poor, so you get some weird inbred DIY freak-dance show.
"When I was in high school, sometimes us 'band fags' hung out in the band room and watched while an upperclassman played a few chords of "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and went on to be venerated as a guitar god for the rest of the week, but our tastes were plain and sheltered and actually forming our own rock band seemed as remote and unlikely as building our own giant robot.
I did not yell or laugh like a maniac or imitate a siren into a bullhorn or play a bass that sounded so, so dirty. I was not in a band that opened for local bands with some members nearly twice my age. The band I was in marched around football games in polyester uniforms. My point is that when I was in high school, I was nowhere near as cool as Riddilin Que.†– Andy Smetanka
