About Me
..
Whats your journey been like?Gutta is real, point blank period. G.M.C's young gunna . I've been with Gritty since day one, so Ive studied the way that he makes music, he says, So I know you gotta make the club joints and the joints for girls, but I also know the difference between, Bad Influence and G.M.C, which is more of me and Cutta's swag. I mean look at the industry we aim to make the best music...Indeed there is no one else who is equipped to gain the street's attention better than Ratchet. "Since a young pup, he let the gun buck," and it was this reckless abandon that attracted a teenaged Co-d "Knitty Gritty" and they begin to run the Northside of Queens. All it took was a chance to bumps heads with his older cousin "Haffa-Key Keez"...G.M.C's Mastermind who told his protege to leave the streets alone and get intune with the Hip-Hop world . Ratch briefly explains, "Tana and Gritty, they saw the potential in me, they both rapped, I just liked to listen to them. They was the illest cats my age from around the way. It was just a natural friendship before rap. We was in School together got our rep together on the street and then they started taking rap more seriously, Gritty said I was nice, so he was like Ratch write to this, write to this."
"My influences to rap were legends like Jada and Fab,
During the grind while Gritty made inroads to the industry, working with almost anyone, Ratch got his rep up on the streets as well as the battle circuit bringing it to other local Queens rappers. "I was taking everybody out. Around this time another local rapper was tearin cats up we bumped heads, i liked his style." Now joined by a cousin of a friend P-Cutta, he instantly introduced him to Knitty Gritty and Montana. As soon as they heard him rap they immediatly knew the sound was complete they began to work on the mixtapes, the group loyally played their position despite the seemingly insurmountable opposition against them, and thats when they created Bad Influence. The group went to war with anyone and chilled with anyone that was afraid to touch them and recorded Classics such as Bang Out, Intimate and Paper Chaser. Ratchets first official vocal appearance was on a U Got Me freestyle back in 2003, and then went to work on Knitty Gritty's The Transition, which secured The Group with name, status and affiliations. Ratch stood out on the early mixtapes due to his unbridled energy and laugh out loud punchlines, which anchored the nimble wordplay of Montana and memorable hooks of Knitty Gritty.I have the most love for Tana and Cutta, because they held me down and helped me with the versitlie versus, he says,The result is a prototypical Bad Influence album, with magnificent, universal beats, and a balanced mix of records for b-boys, d-boys and the ladies. Ive spent so long working with Gritty at this point that Ive more or less learned how to make great/classic records, cause Gritty he's a master, Tana's a beast Cutta is rediculous....Me, im Hood he says. And records like Intimate, which Ratchet actually conceived and wrote on his vers 10 minutes before Gritty and Tana were even finished, exemplify his dexterous understanding of songwriting. I did that vers and did U don't want it with me before they got to finish Intimate and thats the reason that Gritty said "write to this" in the beginning, cause he knew my potential was so crazy. In addition to the crossover between, me and the streets and me and the beats,
All to Gain Nothin to Lose is a balanced and well-rounded LP, if ever there was one. It clearly stands as a testament to the groups versatility, and mainly everyone's ability to stand on their own artistically. Though Ratchet receive helping hands from friends like Stack Bundles and Mazaradi Fox, as well as R&B singer Rell, P Cutta and P Cutta(who, incidentally, delived an incredible verse on Paper Chaser, along side Knitty Gritty) it is Ratchet who shines the LP to his pears because of his growth as an artist especially with slick punchlines like (So get your mind right/i got yall all under the wing just like fried rice)and unmatched charisma. 'Ratchet da Boi Gutta' cant be stopped. Hes been patiently waiting, polishing his skills and preparing for fame and fortune for so long that it is doubtful anything can slow his roll. Real recognizes real, so Recognize Ratchet da boi Gutta Wiiiddddup?!
