Born in Chicago, IL, Adrian “Koncept†Boykin has been called an “MC on Steroids†for his fluid verses that are parallel to Kanye West, Common, Lupe Fiasco, and Black Thought. With over 5,000 listens in one week, Koncept’s “Real Hip Hop,†which was produced by Kyle “The Future†Lawrence indicates the start of a long career.He started his music journey when he began playing the piano at 9 years old and developed his songwriting, and freestyle abilities. By the age of 16, he received his first radio feature with Dallas native “Big Deuce†from South Route Entertainment/Rap A Lot Records. After attending Columbia College of Chicago as a Musical Engineering major – he began recording professionally and Russell Simons, Cash Money, FMG, and Universal Records picked up his sound.Instantly, he formed a network of producers, artists, and fans that has helped spread his sound to Australia, Africa, Germany, and Asia. Influenced by artists such as The Roots, Mos Def, Bob Marley, A Tribe called Quest, One Way, Femi, Fela Kuti, Jill Scott, Marvin Gay, Lauryn Hill, Al Green and Red Hot Chili Peppers among others – Koncept has created a collection of music destined to be heard around the world.Frequently he is accompanied by female vocalist Chelsee’ Cooper, forming an original combination of Hip Hop and neo soul.
