About Me

D’Nise Jonson and Midnite RisingThis veteran group combines the extraordinary vocal stylings of their lead singer and lyricist D’Nise Jonson with excellent local musicians. Midnite Rising consists of some of Detroit’s best players led by their music director and keyboardist, Robert Jones (also music director of the Funk Brothers). This electrifying group presents a wide rage of music from jazz, blues, r&b, rock including classics and contemporary selections.D’Nise is a native Detroiter who began singing at an early age in her grandfather’s church in Ecorse, Michigan. Her vocal skills have allowed her to perform locally and nationally with Harold McKinney, Teddy Harris, Marcus Belgrave, Ramsey Lewis and Hawaii’s icon Don Ho. She is currently in-studio completing her first solo cd “What About Us?” which is due for release in March of 2008.D’Nise, Robert and Charles “Charlie Hawk” Hawkins (lead guitarist) have recently formed JHJ Music Productions. Their mission is to create an environment of non-competitive musical creativity which provides guidance, support and structure to those interested in the art of music and music production.
