.. A minute with ... Patti Collins
'Country girl' living a big-city life with her husband, Bootsy Collins
In recent months, Bootsy Collins was everywhere promoting his Bengals tribute song, "Fear Da Tiger." And wherever the Cincinnati-bred funk musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer went, his wife-business manager, Patti Collins, was by his side. So who is Patti Collins? Well, she's in a Hall of Fame too - at New Richmond High School, for her years as a cheerleader there. She also cheered at Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati and was a Ben-Gal in 1984, four years before she met fellow Bengals booster Bootsy. Before she and Bootsy (she calls him William) jetted off on a business trip to Los Angeles, the 48-year-old self-described "country girl" - the couple live in Clermont County - talked about living with a legend.
Bootsy and I met: At a health club. I was teaching aerobics, and he was a member. My boss introduced him as William Collins. I didn't know who he was. We went for a bike ride two weeks after we met, and I still didn't know who he was. He asked me, "You don't know who I am, do you?" And I said, "William, right?" And he said, "Well, I'm Bootsy." I was like, "Oh, OK." We've been together ever since.
My favorite Bootsy Collins song is: "Save What's Mine For Me" (from the 1988 album "What's Bootsy Doin' "). He put it on his answering service when we first met. He put it on there for me.
My favorite home-cooked meal is: Tilapia. That and some good vegetables. My favorite pie is cherry.
Friday nights you can find us at: The Cracker Barrel fish fry. Believe it or not, Saturday is usually Cracker Barrel again, chicken and rice, because we have these two dishes that we love. (A Taste of) Julia's is one of our favorite places in West Chester.
My favorite TV show is: "I Love Lucy."
On vacations: In my opinion we don't take enough. But when we do go away, there's a place we love in the Amish country in Adams County. It's called Murphin Ridge.Lauren Bishop
