About Me
Born and raised in Kansas City, KS, I grew up playing music, I started playing guitar and drums at the early age of 9 years old. I was one of many guitar players living in Juntiper Garden Projects. So at the age of 12, I started playing bass. Me and some of my other Jr High classmates were recruited by the Sumner High School Band Director...Mr Leon Brady, who asked us to enroll in the Jazz Band when we got to high school.My very first year in high school, our Jazz Band was invited to compete in the 1972 International Jazz Festival in Paris, FR. Out of 6 high schools from the US, our Jazz Band came in first place. We also performed at the Witchata Jazz Festival every year I was in high shcool. We performed on the same stage with musicians like Herbie Hancock, Maynard Freguson, Natt Adderley, Pat Matheiny, Frank Smith, Dizzie Gillesby, Pat Burton and many more. I recorded my first song ( Energize ) in 75 in San Jose CA, I also have one of my songs, ( You're My Baby ) on Blood Stone's latest CD. I 've been all over the world playing bass and meeting great people.I grew up with Norman Brown and his family in KC, Alonzo (Scooter ) Powell..Drummer, Charles ( Chuck ) Bey, John Bridgewater, Crayge Lindsay, Charles Williams, Blood Stone, Smoke, John Cusion & Oleta Adams, and so many more. I met Ray J, on the stage of the Tom Joyner's Family Reunion Concert in the Fair Park, in Dallas... The group I performed with was Mike-N-Mike ( Formerly Project Funk ). I also performed with some good friends, ( Ron Thomas and his Family ) at the Oprah Winfrey Family Reunion in MS 2007. I have pictures in my photos.Living in LA I meet Wayne Vaughn ( Keyboardist with the Brothers Johnson ) a Great person and good friend. When I lived in Las Vegas back in the early 90's, I meet Paul Taylor..Sax player, before he made it, he was playing with the group "GiLeap GiLob", a very very good group. I'm now living and playing bass in Dallas, TX. I've played with and on the same stage with musicians and groups like... Ohio Players, Sun, Roger and Zapp, Lakeside, One Way, Ready For The World, Bobby Bland, Z.Z. Hill, Johnnie Taylor, Little Milton, Grady of ( Sanford and Son ), Vernon Garrett, and others.I'm always around Erykah Badu, her mom.. Queenie, and sister.. CoCo = I LOve That girl.. At the time, I'm playing bass for Karen J & 2b1 Sounds, and LJ Echols. Karen J has a new CD out..that I'm playing on called " Come See Me ". I will be going on tour with Andrew "Jr Boy" Jones in Feb.I respect all BASSISTs, my favorite ???{Marcus Miller }. Larry Graham,Louis Johnson,Stanley Clark,Verdine White,Victor Wooten,Wayman Tisdale,and Brian Bromberg are also GREAT players. There are so many, many, many, many, many, many, more.. and other GREAT Artists of all kind; we all have our own style.
