Photography. Photojournalism mainly. I love doing nature and shooting whatever I can find while wandering around as well.
Writing.
Cycling, whenever my knee cooperates.
Web design.
Thinking/pondering life. I'm guilty of thinking way too much.
Trying to learn HTML.
Making people laugh.
Being guilty of having way too many interests to list.
I also play A3 in my spare time:
I get free stuff if I refer people, so go here and sign up: http://www.alienaa.com/cgi-bin/c.fcgi?id=54972. They'll probably ask who referred you. I go by Captain Chongo and use my [email protected] email.
I'd like to meet:
Not really here to meet new people (what, was the note in the big ass font not clear enough?), but I do tend to associate more with creative types, people that can go from having an intellectual conversation to talking about something completely stupid, and pretty much anyone willing to put up with my crazy antics.
And I'm open to connecting with people I haven't heard from or seen in ages, so if you don’t recognize me when I make the add request there’s a good chance that’s probably my purpose.
Music:
You know what I don't get about music? The fact that if you listen to one genre, you're ___________ (fill in with any genre-based label: hick, emo, ghetto, punk, prep, etc) and if you do anything against whatever norm each label has you're some kind of freak or poser.
Example if you're a punk and you listen to _________ (fill in some "popular" group), your a conformist because you listen to what the big business types want you to.
Bull. How is being a conformist due to listening to whatever "manufactured"
artist different than being a conformist by listening to whatever "non-sellout" artist as the rest of the little punker group?
If someone can give me a decent explination to that question, I'll put more effort into keeping my ear out for not-so-mainstream music. In the meantime, I'll stay conformistically lazy about my listening habits.
Enough of that rant. I'll listen to just about anything; but probably listen to country, rock, and R&B the most. If I'm working on the computer in my room and have the TV on, I'll probably have The Pulse (Sirius) going.
I do have a certain toleration for Justin Timberlake and similar musicians. Again, give me a good answer to my question and/or point me in the direction of some sound; and you gave mock me all you want.
Movies:
War Photographer, American Splendor, Star Wars, Miracle, Mr. Holland's Opus, Austin Powers, Berkeley in the 60's, Brassed Off.
Television:
Shin Chan, Robot Chicken, The Paper, The Oblongs, Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Books:
Like I have time to read.
I do like to read when I can find the time though. I love Victor Villasenor. Loved reading “Rain of Gold†in high school, and I’ve read it at least three times since graduating (it’s a 500+ page book too!), and I’m rereading it’s sequel “Thirteen Senses†now. I’m planning on getting a couple of his other books, “Burro Genius†and “Wild Steps of Heaven,†at some point in the near future.
I also enjoy “American Splendor,†the underground biographical comic book written by Harvey Pekar. I was introduced to the movie based on the comic book, well Pekar’s life in general of course, by a former Expresser and I’ve been interested in American Splendor ever since.
Basically anything that can keep my attention, especially if I can learn stuff from it, I enjoy reading.
Heroes:
Grandma and grandpa...I wouldn't be who I am today with out them. Grandpa taught me how to fix things, how to work hard ("hey, someone's gotta do it"), and when to just say the heck with it. Also got most of my humor from him too. Grandma taught me to cook, makes me prioritize, and helped me realize that I'm going to need book smarts and more than just the hard work I learned from grandpa. Hey someone needs to keep the monkey in line.
Father Frank, Father Arbel, and Sister Rose...there are no cooler people in the Catholic religion; outside of God, Jesus, or the Pope of course. Father Frank sings mariachi; Sister Rose dances better than I do; and I don't care if it's almost as old as I am Father Arbel, it's still a Mercedes Benz your driving.
Cloney Jess...anyone willing to label themselves my clone is automatically awesome!
All the Other Mother Undercovers (adopted family in general)...you put up with my drama, rants, weird moods and you do it voluntarily. You friggin rawk!
Anyone who is willing to put up with my antics on a regular basis and not call the loony bin on me.
