During his early teens Blind became heavily involved in street gangs and gang banging. In August of 1992 he fell victim to a drive by shooting at a park in Pasadena, Ca, where he was shot in his face, chest, and back. Although he survived, he completely lost his eyesight. Losing my sight changed my vision of life, he says. It opened my eyes to what life is all about.Blind has always remained true to his way of life. Even after the incident he continued to gangbang and participate in rumbles and criminal activities without being able to see. Blind has always been a true hustla.Not once will you hear this man complain about his situation. At first it was extremely difficult of course, but Im cool now, he says. The crazy thing is that on that particular day those bullets werent even meant for me. But I know God has chosen me for a reason.After 9 surgeries physicians were not able to save his sight. Later he found out that one of the surgeons had made a mistake and severed his whole retina, otherwise at least part of his sight could have been restored. I still have pieces of bullets in my head, back, and shoulders. I remember the doctor told me once that I have to be careful cuz if I hit my head the wrong way the bullet might shoot into my brain and I could die. One day I got crazy and started banging my head against the wall to see if I would die but I didnt.As a teen Blind was into different types of music including death metal and rock until he fell in love with hip-hop thru the likes of NWA, Run DMC, and Geto Boys. Every style of music I listened to growing up has influenced me in my own creation in a unique way. While studying the Bible and becoming closer to God he started making music himself: Raw hip-hop beats for several different artists, mostly gangsta-rappers from his hood.When he met R-mean in 1999 their chemistry together was undeniable. Soon they became a team and they called themselves Pentagon since day one. Teo joined in 2001. All three of us have become so close as friends that working together comes natural.
