Marcus Hillman (30-8-1969) is a composer-producer and singer/guitarist/bass player from Leiden, The Netherlands.
He developed his skills on many stages since 1985, playing in various bands such as The Vibe, which was Leiden's most succesful reggaeband in the first half of the nineties (lead vocals and lead guitar), Juicy (funk from the Leiden area guitar and vocals), Coco Jr & Vibes Alive (a Belgian reggae cover project guitar) and Ska-D-lite; authentic ska from Leiden (previously on guitar, currently on bass).
Throughout the years, he has also worked on his own repertory, which mainly consists of acoustic songs in a singer/songwriter atmosphere and also reggae and funk songs.
Furthermore, he works with Not Easy At All Productions, an Amsterdam based roots reggae production crew. This collective produces reggae rhythms, for which Marcus writes and records vocals, guitars and sometimes rhythm ideas.
When Marcus dropped a voice fragment for a radio show hosted by DJ Solid Slide at the forums of DI.FM - an internet dance radio station - the DJ decided to use the voice fragment in his show, which lead to a corporate production with this Swiss DJ. The first result of this collab has now been released on the 2008 Zurich Street Parade dance compilation CD, which went straight to number 1 in the Swiss album charts.
The style and melodic progression of Marcus Hillman's voice and guitar playing is appreciated all around and it touches many hearts.
