| What People have said....
"One of my favourite bands around at the moment"
Mani(Stone Roses/Primal Scream)
"If you're into Jesus And Mary Chain, Clinic, BRMC, Primal Scream and The Stooges then you're gonna love this lot.
Fuck the second floor, they're going to the top."
Dermo(Northside)

"One of the best Unsigned bands in Manchester"
Clint Boon(XFM 97.7)
"The set is just six songs, ending on an extended Spiritualized monster of a tune called "Ode To Those", but it's outstanding from start to finish. We're left thinking how privileged we've been to see them blast the very walls off this small dark space as The Second Floor can't remain one of Manchester's best kept secrets for much longer."
Cath Aubergine - Manchestermusic.co.uk

"The Second Floor are a band making their own movement rather than trying desperately to fit into the zeitgeist."
Designer Magazine
"A much anticipated set of new recordings from The Second Floor further cements them as one of Manchester's leading exponents of the alternative underground."
Jon Astley - Manchestermusic.co.uk

"The Second Floor possess the gritty, raw and ballsy attitude of their influences, but present the sound in a forward thinking contemporary way and in 'Dangerous Analysis', you soon realise The Second Floor are how the motorised, electro-punk carnage of Suicide would sound in guitar form.
'Ode To Those' is the sound of Pierce and Kember during Spacemen 3's 'Perfect Prescription' era, with the images of a youthful smack-induced group recording on fucked up amps and creating some of the most dark, but beautiful music to be put down on tape.
One of the most exciting and most certainly, inspiring demo CD's of the year, performed with a genuine rock 'n' roll attitude to instantly dismiss their peers. 9/10."
Dave R - Angryape.com
"Theres a dark sentimental heart to their performance tonight, that sounds not dissimilar to Jesus and The Mary having a party with BRMC at times; its debauched but honest and fundamentally intense. In between flashing lights and smoke the perfect atmosphere is created in which to close your eyes and lend yourself to something that feels dirty, raspy and quintessentially a performance that is undeniably filled with the kind of tunes that drip with tension."
Craig Mather - Manchestermusic.co.uk

Insurgent, passionate, devastating, melancholy, deep, resourceful. Just some of the ways the Mancunian cognoscenti have described their newly anointed band, most likely, The Second Floor. Formed some three years ago in the often neglected hinterland between Manchester and Merseyside, they combine northern suss and sweetness, with an attitude and songs that deliver come hither glances.
Comprising lead singer and guitarist Nolan alongside Crosby on bass, Mark on drums and Matt on keyboards, The Second Floor have been laying waste to the Northern Quarter / Oldham street corridor venues over the last two years. Supporting Sonic Boom at Dry, innumerable Roadhouse, Night & Day and Akoustik Anarkhy gigs, the constant gigging, demo-ing and redemo-ing appears to be making serious waves at last, with a panoramic sound that evokes the likes of Spiritualized, BRMC, My Bloody Valentine, and Jesus and Mary Chain.
From their sold out, self funded EP Man Made Souls to their most recent demos, a classic spaced out noise with a mix of raw garage, 60s psychedelia, and feedback delivered with ear-piercing intentions awaits the listener.
With excellent demo and live reviews off the Manchester press and with Radio 1 Dj Steve Lamacq along with Revolution 96.2 Djs Martin Coogan (Mock Turtles) and Cottee (Proud Mary) as well as Inspiral Carpets and XFM Dj Clint Boon all playing their latest demos on their radio shows, its easy to see why their reputation is spreading.
Easily one of the best new bands out of Manchester for years, The Second Floor manage to pull off a variety of diverse and classic influences whilst sounding new, energetic and exactly how music should sound. Whether it proves a matter of time or a matter of location, whatever, The Second Floor are a band on the rise.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: thesecondfloor.co.uk
Band Members: Nolan, Mark Cody, Crosby, Mat Hirst
Influences: Their influences are too many to mention but The Doors, Bob Dylan, The Verve, Primal Scream, Spiritualized, John martin, Public Enemy, plus Northern Soul and Funk gives a good cross section of what flicks their switch.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
Sounds Like: The Second Floor are descendants of the Sound Of Confusion era 3. Guitar distortion's turned up as far as it will go, the set starts with a few minutes of white noise and only when ears are on the point of overload do they gradually introduce tune and rhythm, raw, 13th Floor Elevators via Warlocks sonic assault.

The Band have been described by many as sounding like Spaceman 3, jesus and Mary Chain, BRMC, The Verve, Spiritualized, The Velvet Underground, Clinic, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream.
