okay, here's the bio

Ben Cook-Feltz was formed in December 1980, when Ben Cook-Feltz was born in Cedar Falls IA. One day, he started to play piano. Rumors of the next Chopin abounded (well, either Chopin or Chapin, or maybe even Cheap Trick, it was hard to hear the rumors with all the amazing piano music being played). Since then, Ben Cook-Feltz has been passively/aggressively forging an indisputable reputation for charming melodies, pseudo-witty lyrics, and piano licks that could make Jack Palance cry. With passion and duty that can only come from years of psycho-somatic, self-fulfilling prophecies, Ben Cook-Feltz continues to blaze new trails, and ensure that all 26 fans will be clamoring for more, much more. It is an experience surely to rival David Byrne and Rufus Wainraight's inspired rendition of Bizet's "Au Fond Du Temple Saint." (You think I'm kidding, don't you.) (Well maybe I am.) (Listen to my music.) {} ..

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.myspace.com/bencookfeltz (yup)
Band Members: THE DAMNATION CONSORT IS:
Cole Mickelson - guitar
Andy Schuster - bass*
Tyler Obinger - drums

* - Andy Schuster is also a monster player who's in a thousand bands, so there's a chance you'll see someone else playing bass. This takes nothing away from anyone else who might be playing bass, they're just as good. It's just the truth.

THE GLORIOUS PERCUSSION ARMADA IS:
Cole Mickelson - guitar
Tyler Obinger - percussion
Eric Miller - percussion
Joe Olsen - percussion
Influences: Paul Simon, Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell, Lindsey Buckingham, The Mountain Goats, The Magnetic Fields, Elliott Smith, and Harry Nilsson. And The Beatles, but like anyone in the world needs to list that one anymore. Plus, like, anything else I listen to, nothing is original these days, when you get down to it.
Sounds Like: Paul Simon singing piano ballads about broken hearts and pants. (But not about hearts and broken pants, as has been widely reported.) I really don't know what I sound like, it's kind of hard for me to judge. People have told me I sound a little like Guster, or even a happy Elliott Smith, and I find those to be extreme compliments, but I don't really see it. I once found myself described as a cross between Elton John and Barry Manilow. . . which is quaint, I guess. Apparently, I've already crossed into the adult contemporary market, and I'm just getting started. Not sure if that's good or bad, I guess it depends on how drunk you are at the moment.

Life Is Short, So Are My Answers

Well this should be interesting. You have to use 3 words to answer each question. No more, no less. It's harder than you think. (So says them anyway.) 1. Where is your cell phone? By the window.2. You...

The End Is The Beginning Is The End (Damn, Billy Corgan's Pretentious)

After careful consideration, and some close observation, I've come to the conclusion that polar bears might just be the dumbest animals on the planet. Oh sure, they're fierce and stuff. But so's Mike ...

Strolling Along

See? See, now, this is what happens when you work a dayjob, that fucks with your well-honed 3rd-shift musician-type schedule. Gradually, over the week, you lose sleep, as you continue to observe a few...

New Album Report: Entry VI, A Shameless Plug For This Weekend's Play

There's a headline on Yahoo! News right now that reads: "Sleep problems, nightmares may be linked to suicide." I haven't read it, and I'm not sure I want to. Because if the first line isn't "Scientist...
