About Me

In today’s rap game what are the qualities that make a great rap artist? Is it their flow on different tracks? Maybe some will argue that lyrical ability is what a great artist needs. Or maybe some would agree with just as long as you got swag. With that being said I introduce to you Done Wright, he holds a rap style that's witty, charismatic, and also carries an item that a lot of rap artists don't own and that's originality. “I’m authentic with mines, I rap about my life, the struggles I been through, the good and the bad, also the success I want to achieve in my career as a recording artist”.Done Wright was born David Wright Jr on February 25, 1980 in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, NY, with his mother being from Harlem U.S.A and his father from Kingston, Jamaica. They lived in a one bedroom apartment on President St until late 1985, and his parents decided to move him and his older brother to ("South Side") Jamaica, Queens. At the early age of 9, watching his older brother rap and listening to rap pioneers like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, L.L. Cool J, and Kool G. Rap he became motivated to be a rapper. As a youngster he would watch the park jams since they were right across the street from his house and became more influenced by Hip Hop.At the age of 12 he made a name for himself and became better at rapping, his peers used to call him D -Murder. Being surrounded by thugs, drugs, and violence he was so deep into the music that he was able to dodge the negativity that came with living in a poverty stricken environment. His spirit became broken from growing up and watching his mother battle with her cocaine addiction, (however today his mother is drug free). In 1995 he began working with a local producer who helped him create his first demo. The songs he recorded for his demo gained him more local respect from his peers as a rapper who can also make good songs. With over a dozen of songs, his producer began to shop Done’s demo for a major record deal, but the one label that was interested at the time decided to close their rap department. In late 1997 Done and his producer parted ways since no finances were being generated from the music they recorded at the time. Done’s family life went down hill when they got evicted out of their home in 1997, his family was forced to split and he had to stay at relative’s apartment in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. Still focused and determined to get in the rap game he submitted new songs to college radio stations and received radio play. He eventually became aware that music wasn’t the only thing he would have to know, he realized that the business side of the game would be the majority of what he would need to know. “Growing up in the hood there wasn't a place you could go to and learn how to run your own business or any rappers coming back telling us about the music business, so I choose to go to school and learn how to start my own company”.In 2OO1 Done began attending Borough of Manhattan Community College as a Business major. Around this time he was learning how music moguls like Master P and Sean Combs, became successful at making music business decisions and started to apply their business mentally to his own, which lead him to start up HardWork Entertainment. In 2004 he released his first mixtape titled "That's Them, This Is Me Vol. 1", and sold it out of the trunk of his car, and on local trains. He later followed up with "They Will Remember My Name Vol. 2", serval other titles and has been featured on numerous mixtapes by DJ's.”. Done has performed at many venues throughout the tri- state area and has recently opened up for rap artist Papoose. He has completed his debut album titled "Penny 2 A Million" which is currently available for FREE for a limited time only at www.datpiff.com released on Lighthouse Music Group. The first single off his debut album is “The Wonder Years” which has received an incredible amount of radio play nationally and overseas through the assistance of Digiwaxx Inc. The video is being played on Video Music Box and AllHipHop.com. Lastly, look out for Done's new single "All I Need" which is now playing on VladTv.com and other internet sites. In closing from the struggles in his life, to moving units on the streets and building up his brand it looks like this young black entrepreneur will be one of the next great ones who will go down in the history of the entertainment world.
