When the canvas is stretched and primed, paint mode begins. I may have an idea or a theme that ill use to start with but with in minutes I'm working far away from it.My brain functions like a computer the canvas being some type of primitive floppy disk I down load tons of human emotion onto within only a few seconds. Things that you can never verbalize make brilliant paintings. People often ask me what i paint ? I tell them that i paint raw human joy and raw human pain and some times raw humans.
Some times I'm really into living and some times I'm so full of life that the air i breath in would burn a lesser mans lungs at these points i flourish and bloom as a person, artist , lover and a father.Just the same some days I'm just into dying. Those days I'm an oxygen thief .Cold and brutal to the work i love. Its really at these earth shaking moments i find clarity and can scope down the full potential of my existence in both career and life.The Japanese have a saying that states that "a man is many things so their for he can not be judged"Ancient Chinese general Sun Tzu wrote in his book the art of war - "A Man is like a house every room is different so their for man is different for every room he enters".I am a painter and a musician and Ive also picked up some good acting tips from my last Miss's.I see painting as a pure and ancient form of expression. unlike the music industry it will never die Twenty years ago no one of the MTV generation would have ever believed record empires would be toppled down to the ground by computer geeks.Now the biggest bands turn away the contract and release to the world for 90 cents a download. Artist make a commodity something precious for the world but song only goes so far be for its mineral and value is tarnished.Radio jocks are infamous for this.But Twombly will always be Twombly and Andy will always be Warhol their work will always remain preserved behind glass for the world to see. Those great paintings done by Dutch masters , Renascence , cubism or street artist will always be important documents, or doorways into the past history of mankind. Showing our achievements our faults and decline. Matisse can paint it soft and show you the perfect Sunday at the park. Vangogh shows you why you shouldn't or should chew on led paints and sip turpentine. The true depiction of works done by Jean Michel Basquiat and other artist like him such as David Sail blatantly show the worst of the worlds societies,Humanity is usually painted as a menacing or demonic character in pop Neo expressionism because the work is so close to the street. One hundred years from now scholars will not care about Brittney's uncensored video that could only be shown to 13 year old girls on you tube or that Louis Vutton sued her for the fabric print inside her escalade being shown with out being copyrighted They will look at what Kiki Valdez left on the walls of club Bed in south beach or the Manhattan stencil explosion of this summer. Art has always remained in the stone age it was discovered their by cave men who at the time had only recently evolved from apes. Art never left that primitive first step it is still on the walls waiting to be discovered. To this day art still has the clean river effect on the people who dwell in its environment. Thank God for that. Now dont get me wrong you would have to be an idiot to assume that trading buying or selling any kind of commodities wouldn't be cut throat. Just like IBM or gold on the open market wall street jerks fight for all day They'll do the same over certain artist if the work appeals to the masses. You may see them at your shows dressed like Gordon Gecko. They are the kinda guys that want to exploit and market your work . Their sharks they will devourer you and leave you with out a paint brush the music industry left those guys in along time ago and look what happened, now their all sinking in the tar pit and looking for ways out. I look at selling my work as a small business their is times of the year you do well and theirs bad points. You have to have people go to work for you .
