This is a FAN PAGE dedicated to the man- Jeff Ament. Jeff grew up in the town of Big Sandy, Montana, a town with a population of less than 700. He began playing the bass guitar as a teenager, often playing along with The Clash and The Police records. After quitting college at the University of Montana in Missoula, Jeff relocated to Seattle in the early 1980s with his band Deranged Diction. Jeff came to Seattle with only $60 in his pocket. He soon became acquainted with fellow Seattle musicians Mark Arm and Steve Turner, and he was asked to join their new band Green River in 1984. Green River is commonly considered to be the first grunge band. The band achieved a considerable local reputation, but in-fighting within the band led to a break-up in 1987.Following Green River's dissolution in 1987, Ament help founded Mother Love Bone along with Green River guitarist Stone Gossard. Mother Love Bone came to an end due the untimely death of singer Andrew Wood shortly before the band's major label debut, Apple. At this point Ament and Gossard almost parted company, but eventually got back together along with an old school friend of Gossard's named Mike McCready. The trio were attempting to form their own band when they were invited to be part of the Temple of the Dog project founded by Chris Cornell as a musical tribute to Andrew Wood. This project eventually featured future Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder, who sang on the song "Hunger Strike". Pearl Jam was formed shortly afterwards, in 1990.Jeff had a side project band named Three Fish, which he formed in 1996 with Robbi Robb of Tribe After Tribe and Richard Stuverud of the Fastbacks. Three Fish released two albums. Ament performed with other members of Pearl Jam on Neil Young's 1995 album Mirror Ball, and subsequently toured Europe as part of Young's backing band.Along with playing bass in Pearl Jam, he has also starred in the movies "Singles" (1992) and "Dogtown and Z-Boys" (2001).
