G* Bass Player* MY DENIAL * ****** Wow?! What a long strange road it’s been for G. Did he really ever think he would end up in the state of Mississippi playing in a three-piece rock band. Did he really ever think he would be in this state of Mind?--------- Born & raised in southern Ohio, G-man played in several bands, notably with guitarist Jim Smith and drummer Bob Gumbert, until he migrated south in 1987. Round 1991, he hooked up with guitarist Royce Wilson & drummer Gregg Rivers, who had just started the band TRI. TRI gained moderate regional success, gigging mostly in Corinth, MS, Muscle Shoals, AL, Tupelo, MS, Jackson, TN, Memphis, TN and who knows how many other small towns along the way. Highlights included opening spots for Steppenwolf, Jimi Jamison & Survivor, and The Byrds. TRI also played several shows at the New Daisy on Beale St. in Memphis and also was chosen to perform during the Crossroads Music Festival in Memphis.---------- “The best of times were when we huddled in Gregg’s big bathroom to work on originals†says G. “Royce or Gregg would have lyrics written & then the three of us would jam until it all would fit togetherâ€. TRI recorded the originals first in Tupelo. Then after scrapping their money together, the band went to Wes Henley’s Highland House studio in Jackson TN. to lay down the rest of the originals. With a certain glow, G exclaims, “I know you expect me to say this since I was in the band, but the TRI original stuff still sounds good to this day!â€---------- After TRI fizzled, G played in several different line-ups. Then he and Rivers hooked up with guitarist Rick Savage and formed The Mostly Neutrals. The Mostly Neutrals then fizzled and G & Rivers formed The Remains, with guitar player Sean Trimble. After Trimble left, and after Savage got done with his road gig, Savage was back in the fold and the current line-up “remains†today. UPDATE MAY 2007: Royce Wilson moved back from Florida & rejoined the group. With the infusion of Royce's talents, a new band name was sought & the new band name just announced in October 2007 will be: MY DENIAL.---------- “Usually the funny moments are either on the way to the gig or on the way home. And believe me, there’s been many memorable times on the stage as well.†“Hangin with Savage, Rivers, and Royce is too outrageous and very dangerous to my mental health, as well as my physical health. Meeting people at the shows, becoming friends with many of the other local musicians, that’s what’s so cool about all thisâ€. “Wake me up when it’s time for supperâ€.---------- ****** G Gear: ****** BASSES: Steinberger XM red*---- Steinberger XM white*---- Steinberger XL black*---- Fender Precision 57 American Re-issue*---- Fender Precision 51 Re-issue*---- Modulus Flea*---- Jerry Jones Dano Longhorn*---- Gretsch Billy-Bo Jupiter Thunderbird*---- Gibson Nikki Sixx Thunderbird*---- Rickenbacker 4003*---- Warwick Masterman*---- Roscoe LG3000*---- Kubicki X-Factor*---- Music Man Sterling*---- Jackson TBX Thunderbird*---- Washburn AB20*---- Nash Custom Shop 63 P/J relic Dakota red*----Carvin V440*---- Hondo II Longhorn*---- Nash Custom Shop 63 P/J relic Sonic blue*---- ****** SPEAKERS/AMPLIFICATION:---- Schroeder 210212 bass cabinet*---- Thunderfunk TFB750-A bass amp----Sansamp RBI pre-amp*---- SWR 2004 amp*---- Ashdown SuperFly Amp*---- Trace Elliot 715X with 2-10 extension cabinet*----Mackie 1400i Power Amp*---- Fender B-DEC*----******---------- G ‘fluence:*---- lil g*---- Melanie*---- the crowd*---- the others*---- the sound*---- the ink*---- ****** G performer/band ‘fluence:* Jim Smith*---- Bobby Gumbert*---- Rick Savage*---- Gregg Rivers*---- Royce Wilson*---- Mark Phillips*---- Cousin Sam B.*---- Mo, RT 3 O, & Creedy*---- Michael Brose*---- Wes Henley*---- Prowler*---- ****** Paul McCartney*---- Geddy Lee*---- Chris Squire*---- Robert DeLeo*---- Tom Hamilton*---- John Deacon*---- John Entwistle*---- Rudy Sarzo*---- Jack Bruce*---- Fran Sheehan*---- Stanley Clarke*----Michael Anthony*---- Roger Waters*---- Billy Sheehan*---- John Paul Jones*---- Dusty Hill*---- ****** Randy Rhoads*---- Eddie Van Halen*---- Eric Clapton*---- Billy Gibbons*---- Dean Deleo*---- Paul Gilbert*---- Brad Whitford*---- Brian May*---- Jimi Hendrix*---- Joe Satriani ****** The Beatles*---- Rolling Stones*---- Aerosmith*---- Kiss*---- Alice Cooper*---- Stone Temple Pilots*---- John Lennon*---- Electric Light Orchestra*---- Cream*---- Kings X*---- Van Halen*---- Led Zepplin*---- AC/DC*---- ZZ Top*---- Queen*---- ****** G stuff*---- AUTISM AWARENESS*---- Tennessee Titans*---- Ohio State Buckeyes*----- Budweiser*---- Magic*---- Apple*---- Buttery Nipples* Sea Monkeys* ------------------------------------------------------------

GREGG RIVERS***** Drums, Percussion, Lead & backing Vocals, *****Born on Keesler AFB in 1961, Gregg is a Biloxi, Mississippi native. ***** "Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast was great and the area truly had a huge influence on what kind of music I listened to. It was rock from the start! My first record was Sam the Sham and the Pharos - Little Red Riding Hood. I can't remember what label that was on, but I do remember it was Red with black letters! I played it until it was worn out. I'm sure it drove my mom nuts but I remember being a little scared when he howled like a wolf! Years later, I got the same chill listening to Yellow Submarine for some strange reason! Ha! Something about the sound effects in that song frightened me! Then came Kiss Alive then Alice Cooper! Whoa! Dude I had to have 3 copies of Welcome To My Nightmare on vinyl! I wore them out man! Of course there was all kinds of stuff in between, but I've always had an ear for stuff that was cool, but different! I guess that's the way I am! I mean, I think Peavey Radial Pro 1000 drums are the coolest sounding and LOOKING drums ever made! Yet, I'd be in a minority on that one too! I had a mullet hair cut for TWENTY YEARS! HA! So what does that tell ya? No really! I still can't figure that out!***** Anyway, being an Air Force Brat, I got to travel a bit. Although most of my childhood was spent on the coast, I also lived in Tehran, Iran, Knoxville, TN, Hawthorne, Nevada, and New Orleans, LA. I played drums in the Junior High School Band. Moving around so much kept me out of the High School Bands. That and I really didn't care for the music much! LOL I wanted to ROCK. So in the 8th grade I begged my Dad to buy me a 5 piece Ludwig drum kit from a neighbor kid. One hundred dollars was a lot of money in 1975! But it was only $25.00 more than Dad paid for my marching snare a couple of years before. So I thought it was a steal! HA! I have no idea how my parents kept their sanity with me banging away, but they actually were encouraging.***** After I finished school (got my GED after I finished the 11th grade) I had to go to work to support MY family. I had 3 boys to raise so drums took a back seat for a while. I moved to Selmer, TN to pursue my budding radio career and met a guy with a really nice Pearl kit he wasn't playing anymore! I didn't have money to buy it, but he told me "Take'em home and play'em! Heck I ain't using them!" It just so happened that my room mate was a guitar player. He had a band after listening to me work out the kinks for a couple of weeks, decided I might fit in his band. So his offer was, "buy your own set of drums, and we'll get some gigs." The guitar player's name was Royce Wilson. I man I admired on guitar for some time. In fact, I never expected any one of his caliber to EVER ask me to play for them! HA! Royce had a bass player in mind and that guy lasted a couple of months before leaving us hanging at a gig. You see the bass player owned all the PA! So when he bolted, so did most of the equipment. It just so happened that Royce knew another bass player in Corinth and he too had a PA system. In fact he had too much PA system for most of the clubs we played, but that never stopped us from dragging every bit of it in to every honky tonk bar in the mid-south! Grant Brose was in and Tri was born! We quickly became known as the loudest band around! HA! After about 5 years of some pretty impressive regional success, we parted ways. Not before meeting Rick Savage and playing a few gigs with him as a second guitarist! That planted the seed that became THE REMAINS! That, my friends, is where we are today. It's a 3 piece rockin little band that just wants to have a good time. We have no political agenda. We are not looking to cure anything. But we would love to make you feel better with some good time rock and roll. It a hep youuuuuuuu! Ha!---------------------------------------------------------
