SUFFICE

About Me

Suffice aka Mentis man, aka JK Jesta has always been interested in music. Indeed, from a young age he was constantly dreaming up schemes and scams for the ways and means to involve himself creatively performing at live shows. It all started in the year 2000 when Suffice was 14 years old. By then school was a enforced liability and music his one-way dream. His days were spent planning the next rave to attend. Where a serious rave was planned, Suffice rarely missed the gig and over the next few years he thought nothing of occasionally travelling hundreds of miles to find the one that really mattered. In those early days the often huge outdoor events consisted mainly of dance music and one of those was Drum n' Bass. Before long Suffice was jamming with a DJ called 'Swindle' and another seasoned veteran called 'Mc Vaga D. Both in turn and different ways helped to influence and thereby build the basis of Suffice’s skills. Through these guy's help, unfailing support and practical encouragement Suffice grew in confidence and when the opportunitiy arose [which by now it did most frequently] he was quick to take it and before long he was jumping on mics at parties, clubs, and raves all over England. Just as important, however, was that this raw experience on the stage taught Suffice not only how to control large crowds but crucially keeping the flow with the principle DJ and other MCs. [emcees] Through his appearances Suffice came to know and then became involved with other young Artists. Amongst the most important were 'Semantics' and 'Kriptic'. Later the trio were joined by 'Snook' [aka Silver tongue], 'David Scribe' and 'Superstead'. Likeminded, but determined to create something not only for themselves Suffice and the others formed the 'Karma Collective' which made it possible for individual artists to come together and create universal and inspiring music at their base, the ‘Sativa Cuts Studio'. At the studio only one rule was strictly applied . Egos in any shape or form were not welcome. Instead, and as many who visited will attest, pure love was shown to and expected from any artist who walked through the doors. The creative energy that sparkled from 'Sativa Cuts Studio' really fired Suffice. Brimming with ideas, he deliber atedly moved away from the punchline lyrics of Drum n' Bass and began composing HIP HOP songs which are sometimes deep, sometimes humourous but always immersed and reflective of his perception of the world around him. Now based on the beautiful island of Bali in Indonesia, Suffice is presently recording his first solo album entitled WORDS and working on a collaborative album with his longtime soulmate 'Superstead'.
