Two years into the scene, The Revivalists have jumped into New Orleans’ vast pool of music and have made a significant splash. With carefully sculpted live shows, The Revivalists show an innate talent for finding the balance between hooky chorus and indulgent jam, energetic funk and melodic pop, a combination that keeps their ever-growing fan base on their feet wanting more. The Revivalists have won over the respect and admiration of the industry’s finest while having an appeal that spans all genre’s and ages.
The Revivalists’ journey began when singer David Shaw moved to New Orleans in August 2007. While riding his bike, guitarist Zack Feinberg happened upon Shaw playing guitar and singing on his front porch. Taken with the soulful melodies, Zack stopped in his tracks, and the two instantly began jamming. They quickly discovered that their differing musical heritages made for a distictive sound, a sound that would become The Revivalists. Shortly after, Feinberg enlisted drummer friend Andrew Campanelli to join the jubilee. After a series of bassists, George Gekas swooned the band with his blue-collar work ethic and mastery of the instrument in the summer of 2008. And to complete the lineup, the band added Saxaphonist Rob Ingraham in the summer of 2009. Their long awaited LP is in production and is due to be released in the Winter of 2009. PRESS:
"The Revivalists formed in the perfect New Orleans way—as strangers brought together by music...Judging them by their self-titled EP, the Revivalists can play JazzFest and the crowd would love them: the audience would get funky and sing along to “Common Cents;†They’d sway to the song “Soulflight;†they’d love them, no doubt...There are audiences across the country that are starved for soulful and funky music, and we’re so spoiled that we’ve been presented with yet another option".
— Caroline DeBruhl for ANTIGRAVITY Magazine 9/08
"Their sound derives from New Orleans jazz, blues, funk and modern rock. The club grooved, the drinks flowed, the crowd was high and the music was full of eclectic flavors."
-Garret Cleland for The Loyola Maroon 9/25/08
“The Revivalists know how to infect a live venue with a sense of purpose and energy. Their performances veer from pop sensible and anthemic to progressive and brooding, often within the space of the same song (often within the space of the same minute, in fact), and show an innate talent for finding the balance in the tricky dichotomy of a hooky chorus and an indulgent jam. The overall effect is inspiring, and, most importantly, never boring.â€

"One of the only new bands to catch my ear in the last year has been The Revivalists...They are a return to organic sounds and fat grooves, hip lyrics and good tunes. I highly recommend going to see them play, and supporting them by buying the CD."
-Kevin O'Day for NewOrleans.com 9/16/08
“There definitely is no better live music than The Revivalists, at least in my mind for right now, we wish you good luck and to keep going and keep giving it to us for many more years.â€
–DJ Sherwood Collins WWOZ 90.7 New Orleans Music Show stated on air 10/9/08
"Considering it takes most bands so much longer than a year to make such an impact and gather this many fans, these guys must be lucky... Nope, they're just that good!

"WWOZ Show Host's 1 CD Pick for 2008" "This band really hits me: Great songwriting, awesome vocalist, killer musicians . . . all from college-age kids. I think they can really hit it big."
-Sherwood Collins January 2009
"With the crowd gathered from the stage to the door, they served up a set of gritty, reggae-inflected rock that launched one of the most out-of-control parties that I’ve experienced in quite some time. Wrapping feel-good, danceable melodies around funky, shape-shifting jams, their songs came to life as their young, energetic fans latched on to and got down to their grooves"
