About Me

NOTE: If you upload ANY of MY music onto a myspace band page without my permission, I WILL get your profile deleted. I have a lot of great fans that let me know if shit like that is going on and I've had to contact myspace more than once about this and they've promptly deleted any profile violating myspace's terms of use. Don't waste your time! It's against the law.

Fakebestfriend (19 year old Ben D.) Started writing music at 15 (2004) with his first song "will you cut my hair" that later translated into the 2008 remix of "Hair" with fellow internet artist "Seher Strange". Focusing on the obsession of beauty and vanity in our American society, he zeroed in on something that works. You can get crunk with tracks like "Anorexia" or comfort yourself with the track "too young to care". Who gives a fuck? Have fun and stay real!
Fakebestfriend is every person who has ever pat you on the back one moment, and then stabbed it the next.
With the underground release of "Anorexia" in 2001, Fakebestfriend soon became a hit amongst highschool boys, girls and in-betweens who faced the harsh reality of a judgemental society (and the angst of wanting to fit into size double zero jeans). Everyone likes to dance and have fun, and when "real" is thrown into the mix, it makes it all the better.
Fakebestfriend is every person who has ever held you through a rough time in your life, and then fed you to the dogs when it suited them most.
I am the friendship bracelet of lies that you wear around your wrist with the hopes that it actually means something. In reality, among the diamonds and the gold there is no substance holding any of your relationships together and all your bracelet signifies is how superficial human relationships can be and in turn how superficial friendship has become in our society. "Don't friend me unless you are beautiful".
Fakebestfriend is the reflection staring back at you every day that screams
"you're not good enough".
You have to understand something before you can conquer it.
You have to keep your friends close and your fakebestfriend's closer.
Just not too close...
I am Ben, I'm 19 years old and "fakebestfriend" is the epitome of every drunken party friendship
you've ever had.
I compose music, dance with a professional ballet company,
look good in photos, exploit human flaw and get paid for doing all four.
I was born and raised on the island of Oahu in Hawai'i and I moved to california when I was 15 to train at the San Francisco Ballet School. Dance has been my passion since I was 7 and I believe it's my love for music that drives my dancing. Dancing is music in it's most alive form.
After attending the San Francisco Ballet Schools summer programs for 3 years, I permanently moved to California to Marin County (across the Golden Gate Bridge) a county with one of the highest per capita incomes in America and most liberal attitude towards everything.
All the while, during these years of professional ballet training I had a secret life of creating electro music and posting it on MySpace where I had developed over 100,000+ fans thanks to shirtless profile pictures and my songs about Mary-Kate throwing up. Soon after my family found out about what I was doing (they disapproved of the song "Anorexia" and the possible misconstrude message it could send out) I was forced to delete my MySpace band profile and I took 5 months off from MySpace and music all together. Then in August of 2005, I signed back onto myspace and re-released my music to my fans.
Fakebestfriend is slowly becoming a cultivation of online music-collaboration. Now working with several individuals via internet on a four NEW tracks to be showcased on my upcoming album "I Am Other". Collaboration is a great way to make from for growth as an artist, you learn so much about yourself and about your art. Working with artists from Boston, France, New Jersey and the UK has opened my eyes to the difference in styles and technique of the ceration of electronic music.
Have fun, say "fuck", make fun of fat people for all I care. The main thing is to remember not to take yourself too seriously, have fun and most of all stay grounded. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
America is the home of convenient-propaganda
(disguised as a piece of candy)
and the birthplace of a generation of youth brainwashed to desire ill-gotten fame.
America (and our world) is where every human emotion has a prescribed medication to go with it and a piece of paper from a school determines your worth as a human being.
"Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become your actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny."
I'm always online.
