MASAMUNE
Masamune is a death metal/thrash band out of southeastern Massachusetts. Formed in 2009, this band brings a unique style of music that is not seen enough in the Massachusetts metal scene. With melodic leads and heavy breakdowns, Masamune mixes their metal instincts with expert musicianship, giving them a sound that is reminiscent of groups like Between the Buried and Me and Protest the Hero.
Started under a different name by guitarist Jason Petrucci and bassist Zach Lacasse in 2008, vocalist Adam Waz added his brand of chilling screams shortly thereafter. The band found its true strength when they joined with guitarist Jeff McGowan and drummer Ray Augusta in 2009. The metal background of Petrucci and Lacasse melded perfectly with the eclectic styles of McGowan and Augusta and the group began writing new music that gets more complex with every song. The group was completed when keyboardist Matt Volpini joined the group in the spring of 2009.
With the core of the band now complete, Masamune is writing new songs and preparing to record an official demo in the coming months, and be sure to catch a live performance because their original music and in-your-face stage presence is sure to blow you away.
