About Me

The music made by hornby pylons has so far defied accurate description but is thought to live somewhere between the soul sonic force drum machine, 90's grunge, DFA synths and a badly mixed charity shop DJ set. More is known about the band itself which almost definitely contains 3 boys who live in a house in Cardiff with a glockenspiel and a machine which knows the entire alphabet. Equipped with these along with guitars, synths, sampler (thanks Graf!) and toy-box electronics collected from charity shops and front gardens, they are joined on stage by Ms Laura Janes (silence at sea) and Mr Simon Ayre who add sweet lady-singing and prog-o-lific-guitar respectively to the proceedings.
At hornby pylons’ live debut an early version of the track think for each other caught the ear of Cardiff based DJ - ODG (buffalo, batucada basics), who set to work on a remix/re-recording. This new version features on the compilation CD "This Town Ain't Big Enough For The 22 Of Us", out now on twisted by design record label. Yay!

After moving all their equipment into the lounge and making a mess, hornby pylons managed to record enough songs to make a hornby pylons CD. If you should like one we would be dead pleased. You can buy them from spillers records in cardiff, or if thats too far to walk form where you live we can post them to you - (send us a message). They are £2 and zero pence which equates to less than 0.1p per second of listening. wow! Amongst other interests hornby pylons also like surprises, thoughtfulness, things that make noises, things that are electroinic, things that are old, things that are elctronic, old AND make noises, as well as other pointless things (see cd sleeve). If you should like to exchange a cd for £2 worth of such stuff this would be exciting, although I do believe spillers prefer money if you're getting it from there.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: odog: is about the same age as the other members but definitely knows the most about his keyboard. he works hard, plays hard and never picks his nose and eats it

bienjamu: is not his real name and once when i sent a letter to his house his mum thought it had been delivered to the wrong house. bienjamu can sing and play guitar and never ever puts his hand where it doesnt belong

captain mug hand: is his real name, but so is g, gorak and sir randal skiff. captain (which he is almost never called) got his name for throwing a mug of water in the air and catching it again, he never ever ever turns his geetar up louder than everyone else (ever)

simon le bon ayre: for some reason he has a real name and lives in a different house, but this doesnt prevent him playing either the guitar or keyboard. He can also make the sound of drums without a drumkit.
Influences: apart from gardening shows and exercise videos sometimes hornby pylons use their ears to listen to a range of music including the following: buggles, four tet, black strobe, shipping news, dfa, the thermals, presidents of the usa, the rapture and those acid house collections that come on about 8 tapes and were only available in the early 90's (you get a source - you let me know!)
Sounds Like: electronic drums with electric guitar near a human singing along to keyboards. if you lsten closely you may hear the bands actual voices
Record Label: Nope!
