*** *** *** Owen Dalhouse is the silent, unassuming hero of the reggae music classic. Born in the Whitfield Town area of Kingston Jamaica, he began his musical venue by learning to play the piano, drums and guitar at the age of 8, by the age of 12 he moved to Spanish Town, where at 14 years old he was in a professional band (The Wrights Brothers inc.) that was on the top of the scale of bands from that parish and neighboring parishes. In 1984 Owen with his brother and musical friends formed the most creative and talented group of musicians ever to assemble in Jamaica named the RYDDIM KINGS! Ryddim Kings came about when Owen "Mr. Music" Dalhouse (drums), his brother Howard "Stretch" Dalhouse (guitar), Paul "Dr. Paul" Hamilton (bass), Phillip "Bully" Williams (keyboards), Lloyd "Obeah" Denton (keyboards) and Wayne "Reggae Fox" Denny (vocal) decided to combine their talent in forming a band. During the 1980's between the corner of King Street and Peel Lane in St. Catherine, (Jamaica's old Capital), they started their musical encounter and soon became recognized as Jamaica’s leading backing band. In the era of this great band, there was none to be compared from coast to coast. New innovative sound, crowd drawing, superior music and entertainment were synonymous with Ryddim Kings In 1986, They received their crowning glory when they topped the Rockers' Fifth Annual Music Awards and were awarded the top backing band for 1986 over the like of Sagittarius and Lloyd Parks and the We The People Band. Concurrently and in a chronological sequence, they have won three times the Jamaica most prestigious award and the Americas famous Tamika Awards for best reggae backing and show band. Ryddim Kings has traveled extensively around the world, they have performed on nearly every major show including Jamaica's premier event, Reggae Sun splash, Sum Fest., Japan Splash, Sting and a lot of world music festivals just to name a few and have won tumultuous applause and continue to win numerous awards. Ryddim Kings was recognized for outstanding meritorious contribution to the development of Jamaica's music in the 1991 By Rockers Magazine and in that same year again they received the Martins International Reggae Music Award for outstanding contribution to reggae music. The Ryddim Kings has backed most of Jamaica's stellar performers... Owen Dalhouse the father, teacher and mentor for many unknown artist who we know today as legends, such like as Andrew Tosh, Luciano, Chevelle Franklyn, Diana King, Benjy Myaz, Alisa Shaw, Gregory King to name a few, yet he has taken no credit. He was the pioneer of Dance Hall music, the initiator of many music ventures, yet remained humble. He Works with the likes of Peter Tosh, Sonny Bradshaw and in every instance, he excelled. He worked the north coast and enjoyed good success. He then rivaled himself by forming the "Flames of Glory" gospel band that took Jamaica by heavenly storm; (no great gospel show was held without the appearance of Flames of Glory") they opened for many a well known gospel artist within the Island as well as foreign renowned artist like Bebe Winans, Kirk Franklyn, Mary Mary and many others. They Left a stamp of perfection compared to none as they host many gospel show throughout the Island of Jamaica... Mr. Dalhouse aka Mr. Music as we preferred to call him, however, did not just please the public pallet, he gave back to the community by pioneering the Bee Zee Street Music Academy located in Spanish Town that become know for the quality of student it produced and the technique he used that had his student performing within a short time of admission to the school. 2003 Mr. Dalhouse expanded to the Americas' and America started feeling his presence. He now owns the hottest and most sort after band reggae show, dance and backing known as the "Inner Roots" the sound of which can be at the best eateries in New York parties, festivities and cultural events. He has revived the live band sound and affordability in the Metro area and has expanded his listener ship to the rich suburbs. He is the C.E.O. and producer of Dalhouse Productions inc. where new and upcoming artist are given the opportunity to become stars at a cost that is within reach and yet with the quality that supersedes the excellence of today's standard.
