Kaliba was first discovered by a local manager called Marlon. They produced a mix tape together entitled “Take 1â€. Local producers ThundaTracks caught wind of the production and wanted to get involved. They completed the mix tape together and it was an instant success in the streets. George Dukes, who is one of the biggest club promoters on South Beach, heard the tape and became Kaliba’s new manager. Kaliba’s career soared from that point due to Dukes’ extensive celebrity connections. Kaliba was also the only unsigned artist to perform at DJ Khaled’s birthday party along with big names such as Fat Joe, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Keisha Cole, Rick Ross, Jim Jones, TI and Lil’ Wayne.
Kaliba currently has several impressive projects in the works that he will be collaborating on with artists such as Mowet and Pleasure from Pretty Ricky, Benzino from Hip Hop Weekly as well as several new and established artists from Florida such as Brisco, Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross and Joe Hound with Cool & Dre. He will be writing both Hip Hop and R&B songs, creating mix tapes, as well as production. Also, Upper 11 records has arranged for Kaliba to work with LES (who incidentally is also Nas’ critically acclaimed DJ/producer) on his debut album which will be released in the U.S. and U.K.
