About Me

Heartbeeps is a project by Craig Nunn, a musician and photographer from Leeds, currently residing in Cambridge. Heartbeeps was originally conceived in 2004 in Derby after the dissolution of Craig's university band. A relative hiatus followed, during which time Craig spent several years living first in Guangzhou, China and subsequently in Wroclaw, Poland.Following his return to the UK, Craig recorded and produced his first recorded output, the twin EPs Breslau (the old German name for Wroclaw) and Canton (the old English name for Guangzhou), the latter of which was released digitally in 2008 through Mexico City-based netlabel Poni Republic to minor critical acclaim. In the summer of 2009 Craig collaborated on two songs with fellow bedroom pop artist Laura Wolf. This project would go on to form the band Internet Forever , for which Craig is now more widely known.Craig is also one half of Trevor & Simon and Garfunkel with fellow Internet Forever member Christopher Alcxxk. He runs Partynice Magazine , and his photography has graced the pages of such publications as Vice Magazine and NME. He was once a Bollywood extra.

Influences: Pavement, The Unicorns, Yo La Tengo, Times New Viking, Why?, M.I.A., The Microphones, Architecture in Helsinki, Islands, of Montreal, Silver Jews, Sonic Youth, Xiu Xiu, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Dinosaur Jr., Carsick cars, Guided by Voices, Animal Collective, The Beatles, Cass McCombs, Mo*Ho*Bish*O*Pi, Momus, Jon Brion
Sounds Like: There is a lovely drone-iness to [Heartbeeps'] music, which is a happy marriage of super lo-fi and super-melodic. Glacial Valleys is probably their best song, clunkily lo-fi, vaguely Beta Band-ish, whilst Tramwajs is a symphony on toy instruments, nicely strained vocals and a male voice choir singing through paper cups. Heartbeeps sound homemade and unfocused, but in the very best kind of way, like a child's telescope made out of toilet rolls.
A NEW AND A DAY (UK)For fans of Pavement or running The Unicorns through a tin processor, the UK's heartbeeps will fit your measuring cup. With substance to spare. The songs instantly glean your favorite smile-inducing sounds, creating round-two-minute gems that pop and hiss and could very well destroy.
THE CULTURE OF ME (US)Times New Viking fans should look this way, as there's much the same no budget ideas overflow in miniatures going on here, only with a cheap-sounding keyboard.
SWEEPING THE NATION (UK)
2-minuters lo-fi-pop med uppenbara influenser från Casiotone For The Painfully Alone ...
THE MAN OF RENNES STEALS OUR HEARTS (France)Heartbeeps' laptoptronica veers from abrasive Pavement-esque riffs to Beirut-inspired ukelele pop. There is an element of dream pop to Heartbeeps too, especially on the enchanting 'Hats & Gloves & Scarf'.
KEEP HOPE INSIDE (UK)...un jovencito británico, que muy al estilo de The Unicorns, Times New Viking, The Microphones, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone y Cass McCombs, reúne 4 melancólicos temas llenos de magia y crudeza emotiva que componen su segundo trabajo-toda una joya- llamada “Canton EP”.
