About Me
Romolo Stanco is born in 1972. After a two-year course of study in Physics, he graduates with full marks in Architecture, at Politecnico of Milan.
In 1998 he founds SmarritaCamilla Architectural Workshop, developing a complex journey inside architecture, design and research and obtaining concrete projecting results of recognized value.
He has worked in much architectural projects, interiors, public and residential spaces without a strictly academic coherence but following a essential poetical research and evolution that doesn’t necessarily imply a minimal approach: as a matter of fact, it requires “love†for the project, such a devotion that doesn’t even allow to reduce its strength because of technical or productive reasons.
In his architectural projects, he crosses through an organic deconstructive approach in the project of the recording studio “ELFO†(2005-2006), through an extreme rigorous organization of the spaces with a risked structural challenge versus the gravity force in the “IV House†(2006), until an ironic and biomorphic moulding of the surfaces in the fast-restaurant “Spiedonny†(2007).
Romolo Stanco is animated from the conviction that the world of forms (in architectural but also in design projects) is infinitely rich and gradually discovered by man and its study and organization becomes more captivating and necessary day by day. That leads to face new projects with the courage and pride to change every time the poetical and projectual approach because the time, the perception and the life intervenes as fundamental components in the organization of the space on a “human†scale and have the force to crumble also the most radical coherences .
He boasts of publications concerning architectural projects (he’s on the cover of the magazine founded by Bruno Zevi “L’Architettura: Cronache e Storiaâ€, issue 593, with a brilliant presentation of the project named “Elfostudioâ€, written by Michele Costanzo) and design objects (Ottagono, Interni and much others).
From 2006, he is art-director and main designer in NONESISTE Design Lab, the creative outpost of SmarritaCamilla Architectural Workshop, with the aim of carrying out and accomplishing his new designing ideas, prompted by an unusual search for formal essence and by functional and expressive synthesis magnified by the use of technologically advanced materials, developed with the co-operation of CNR-IENI, located in Lecco (Italy) directed by the physicist Stefano Besseghini.Romolo Stanco
