Buckwild

About Me

"If you are to find yourself escaping from a tsunami wave that’s trailing down on you through the middle of the desert, Buckwild should be the music blaring on the stereo.Surf and country don’t usually go together, to say the least. But Buckwild – a Denver based three piece that’s been in existence for six years – fuses the two styles, along with several other influences, into a sound that somehow makes sense.“I learned a long time ago not to be a music genre bigot,” said Rex Moser, Buckwild’s founder. “Closing your mind to any type of music gets you nowhere.”No rookie to musicMoser has been involved in the local music scene since 1979. The lifelong musician has seen bands, clubs and trends come and go while playing in numerous bands. After one of his projects broke up, Moser figured he was done with music and sold all of his equipment except one acoustic guitar. But while his ambition might have been stalled, his songwriting itch never relented and he kept on composing music. Moser soon got the idea for playing “wholesome booze-drenched cowpunk” with a three-piece band, and Buckwild was formed.“It’s fun to play with only three band members,” he explained. “There’s so much more space available in the music, I used to think you had to always cover up all of that. Also, there’s so much less personality to keep together.”Interested in bass playerBuckwild is still in the hunt for a full time bass player. The band has been using the irreplaceable Susan who is on loan from Angie Stevens and the Beautiful Wreck. Moser said he still dreams of the band hitting the road and living life as a touring musician, and wants to find a bass player to join him and GoGo, the drummer, in living that dream.“We’re just trying to find that third musician who can go at the drop of a hat and isn’t tied down to join us,” he said. “Music is my life and there’s nothing else I’d rather do.” (Denver Daily News 12/25/08) ............................................................ ......."Not to be overlooked, Denver's Buckwild is returning for their second Grand Junction show since the band's infamous performance at the Spotlight Lounge in June 2007. Roughly halfway through their show, a misguided, likely substance-impaired pickup truck driver smashed through the roundabout at Seventh Street and Main, before hitting a van rented by the band for the trip to Grand Junction. The band played on --wrecked ride and all. All longtime Denver music scene movers, Buckwild has opened for acts such as Reverend Horton Heat and The Beat Farmers."
