During my junior year at Tempe High School, I met sophomore Sally Hernandez. What started as a date to a high school dance, turned into a once-in-a-lifetime love. We continued our relationship throughout college at Arizona State University and married in May of 2001, thirteen years from the time we first met. Today, we have a hyper-active 4 year old daughter Sierra Nicole, our 11 month baby boy Cruz and a family dog, Romeo.
I'm a proud ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY SUNDEVIL ALUMNI!!! I Graduated in Computer Science from the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering in May 1995. After a 16 year engineering career, I now serve as the Engineering Section Manager at General Dynamics responsible for 100 engineers executing major military intelligence programs.
Although engineering is my official profession, some assume I am a fulltime comedy show promoter and producer. While serving as president of the Arizona State University Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) student chapter in the early 90's, I met up with Salvador Zambrano who was serving as a national student representative of SHPE. In 1994, we established SUMMA Communications, a promotions company focused on raising funds for local Latino non-profit organizations. I feel very strongly about giving back to community organizations like those that helped me financially through college. For the past 15 years, SUMMA Communications has organized and promoted the Original Latino Comedy Night at the Improv in Tempe, Arizona. This event is labeled the biggest and best Latino comedy event in the state and has become a traditional event for the Valley of the Sun. Stay tuned for an upcoming show on April 29th, 2009. I'll always do my best to "help others help themselves" in everything they do.
Since the inception of the Original Latino Comedy Night, we've been able to donate in excess of $50,000 to several non-profit organizations to include the 9 Beans & A Burrito Foundation Scholarship Fund, Omega Delta Phi Latino Fraternity, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) – Tucson, Los Diablos ASU Latino Alumni Association, Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix - Northeast Branch, ASU Los Merecidos Scholarship Fund, the Glendale Youth Center, the Friendly House, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the Arizona Association of Chicanos for Higher Education (AACHE).
