CHOMSKY ALLSTARS

About Me

Chomsky Allstars, Glasgow’s antidote to X-Factor, are a band very much in demand. Not content with being Scotland’s sole representative on the forthcoming ‘Shatter the Hotel: The Songs of Joe Strummer In Dub’ CD, lead singer Chomsky is also collaborating with breakbeat legend Cut La Roc on his impending album.Currently in the studio recording their much-anticipated debut album, the band - comprising Chomsky on vocals and guitar, Frankie Coia on bass and Derek Chapman on drums - aim to build on the critical success of their debut single ‘The Big I Am’, released in July 2008. Also featuring a remix by Cut La Roc, the single not only received national airplay in Ireland, Russia and the UK (plus college radio plays in Canada and the USA) but was also acclaimed as ‘the ‘Teenage Kicks’ of the Bebo generation’ by the music press.Small wonder when you consider Chomsky’s musical heritage. Cutting his teeth amid the punk/reggae/new wave scenes of London and his native Birmingham, Chomsky worked alongside luminaries such as Ranking Roger and Everett Morton of The Beat, Sir Horace Gentleman of The Specials and Fuzz Townshend of both Pop Will Eat Itself and Bentley Rhythm Ace.Branching out, he also developed his skills as a playwright, leading him in 2002 to win an award for ‘No Sweat’, his debut stage play written under pseudonym of Lloyd Withers. This honed a lyrical edge that, combined with Derek’s taut punk drumming and Frankie’s rambunctiously funky bass, takes no prisoners. With a summer chock-full of shows across Ireland, England and Scotland, Chomsky Allstars’ high-octane, cross-cultural constellation of rock’n’roll, blues, dance and dub is fast gathering a following large enough to ensure that, once released, the record takes its rightful place in rock’s pantheon of essential debut albums. For more info and bookings please contact:[email protected]@gmail.c omBuy now on iTunes! The Big I Am

BAD MOOD RISING

As another year draws to a close, the world still looks a scary and unstable place: illegal wars raging in the Middle East; neurosis, poverty and drug addiction on every street, in every town. A...
