gillis & the youngbloodz
Ocean Side View ( May or May not still be a Band )The Preface : Ocean Side View is four witty young children who are slowly turing into scragly fine young men . Each with their own specific individual tastes of music and talents they all bring unique ideas and sounds to the jamroom ( formerly Callums older brothers bedroom and once cristened Gillis's summerhome ). They basically met each other from being in previous bands that played together in the Brantford Indie Punk Rawk and Nu Metal scene. ( if there even ever was one )The History : While Keith Edmonson's band Last Chance was on a break after releasing their first album , Matt Gillis and Callum Moffat's band The Line that seperates truth from lies was on a mean streak of shitty shows with lots of broken strings and being too drunk to barely stand let alone sing . This wasn't good routine and was only a catylist of their on stage breakup. Scott Haig was playing drums for Homeless Gnome at the time and slowly started to become close friends with Gillis and Edmondson , soon Gillis was jamming with Haig and eventually got Keith to come around , it was only a matter of time before Scott left Hg and the boys picked up Callum for bass forming OSV. December 2nd 2005 the group drank and smoked their way to Mount Tremblant and wrote the song "Tremble" symbolizing the bands unity / open mindedness and care free life style .The Performance : Ocean Side View was only been a band for a couple years but have already played shows with bands that inspire them before they were even a band . (goes without saying they may just really enjoy their music such as) Sleeper Set Sail , Hoosier Poet , The Remains of Brian Borcherdt , New Found Interest in CT ( R.I.P ) , Shotgun Rules , Gentlemen Reg , The Fully Down , Dear Jane I and Hamiltons favourite pirates Sailboats are White . This goes to show these gents vows not to be restricted genres and catogorization but rather try to expand the mind of the scenester and create a very unique fan base (if even one at all). Basically they're open minded people who enjoy playing open minded music that expresses the highs and lows or everyday life.EARTHTONE Records SMALLWORD booking
