About Me

A boyish grin, a gleaming eye, he belts his prose.
The veins swell, the sweat pours, the guitar bleeds, lost on stage in a world of words.
Dreaming of a sunny street, a cold beer, a long highway to nowhere, paddling his fingers along that long slender neck.
Where will these words take him today?
Who or what will inspire him? A passing shadow, a burning memory, the pain and joy of love?
Wisdom or passion? Bitter or sweet?
A rusty trail of freedom in a blissful calm.
A rocky road of tears in a storm of woe.
Always reaching for more, never standing still.
A rolling stone, the unruly spirit. Best intentions go unnoticed. Nothing comes easy.
With rich vocals and passionate lyrics, this singer-songwriter carries his Martin from town to town where he hits the stage and wins the affection of his audience with his raw energy and talent.
Born in New Orleans at the dawn of the '60's, he discovered music at an early age. Listening to LPs and 45s, he dreamed of singing on stage. Years later, taught himself how to play on a borrowed guitar and began singing solo to anyone who would listen at college parties, coffee shops and sidewalk cafes.
In the winter of 1999, he formed his first band, "Something Like That" with the partnership of bass guitarist Pierre Simoneaux . That following spring, he produced his first CD... entitled "Louisiana Love" which was described in an Offbeat Magazine review as ...."swamp pop at its best".
The album featured nine of his original compositions -some spiced with fiddle and accordion licks.
After leaving SLT, Gene joined with several other talented northshore musicians forming the Little Bigger Band and released his second CD "Turn of the Page" (produced by Robert Sturcken) in late 2006.
More than a songwriter, Gene explodes on stage with the energy of Bruce Springsteen. Today he leads his band in a creative frenzy around the southeast Louisiana music circuit with steady gigs in restaurants and music clubs.
Gene also presents his unique style of songwriting and performing as an acoustic soloist, part of a duet or trio with Ron VanAmpting on guitar and David Crumhorn on bass.
