Jene Spears, known as ‘J’, is not just your average girl next door. She recently landed a deal with Chrysalis Music Group, one of the largest independent music publishing company’s in the world. J is now on their artist/writer roster along with talents such as OutKast, Johnta’ Austin, Randy Jackson, and David Bowie.
J is a product of the dirty south; therefore her deepest roots lie in gospel music (going to church
was not optional). Her first experience being out front was leading a song for the adult choir, at the tender age of 5 yrs. old. J’s childhood was a plethora of modeling jobs, singing, and theatrical performances throughout the southeast. At the recommendation of Kemet Productions, CEO, Jane Harley, J did her first national solo performance, singing on Amateur Night at the Apollo, at 10 yrs. old. She went on to be a winner four times.
Remember Queen Latifah’s TV show on Fox network? J was the final winner of her national talent search, at 13 yrs. old.
She’s has performed live and/or video with artists such as, John P. Kee, Kirk Franklin, Mike Jones, Trilville, Tank, and Tyrese.
J had a small role in the pilot for the television series CSI.
At 16 yrs. old, she was signed to WB as a recording artist. Unfortunately, it was not the best situation, but it was a great learning experience.
From Walmart.com you can download a song J co-wrote, recorded by Fantasia as a bonus trak for her last album, titled “Girl Like Meâ€. You can also download a song J co-wrote and recorded herself, titled “Doin Too Muchâ€.
Shout out to Donald Woodard, the best entertainment attorney ever.
J recently relocated from Charlotte, NC to the Atlanta, GA area.
J doesn’t hesitate about giving GOD the credit for her talents.
J is currently focusing on her songwriting. Talks of acting opportunities and singing performances are pending.
Through her extraordinary ability to sing, act, and write, J is destined to become a household name.
