I'm open to all sorts of experiences, as long as it is not a total waste of time. So sitting in front of the TV watching the latest news about who got AIDS from Tom Cruise is definetely out. Who cares? I like anything that has to do with the outdoors. Camping, hiking, climbing, skydiving, boating, hunting, etc.... This being Portland, the window for doing these things and staying relatively dry is small, but it can be done. Also very much into music and reading. Movies are awesome too as long as there is somewhat of a plot and the name "Jerry Bruckhiemer" is not attached. I also am known to play the odd video game from time to time. (Guitar Hero II is the SHIT!) Always up for trying new things, so if somebody has suggestions, I'm all ears.
I'm basically on here to keep in touch with my friends and family, find old friends/drinkin buddies I've lost contact with, and maybe meet a few cool people. That being said, I will generally only add people I know, but there are exceptions. I will NOT add these "REALLY popular!" douchebags with 963 "friends". You are not cool. You suck. Same goes for people who are 'easily offended'. If you are offended easily, you are a pussy. End of story. Otherwise, its all good!
This country has horrible taste in music. I mean, look at American Idol! No... actually, don't. Same goes for radio, for the most part. My musical tastes lie in rock and its variations. Classic rock, grunge, SOME alternative, hard rock, metal and all its subgenres, and so forth. I also like old school country the likes of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, David Allen Coe, etc.. and even some classical music and some rap. (Again, old or 'underground' stuff only) Some of my favorite bands/artists: TOOL, In Flames, Metallica (pre- black album) Slayer, Death, The Sword, Nirvana, Acid Bath, Misfits, Arch Enemy, Isis, Arsis, Callenish Circle, Anathema, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Dark Tranquillity, Primus, Between the Buried and Me, Cephalic Carnage, Opeth, Pantera (RIP Dime!!!!!), Ween, and many many more.
Braveheart, True Romance, Sin City, Trainspotting, American Beauty, Mulholland Drive, Memento, Anchorman, Lord of the Rings trilogy, American History X, Dead Alive, Clockwork Orange, Borat, The Devil's Rejects, Walk the Line, Team America, 40 Year Old Virgin and anything else thats cool. (Which makes up about 15% of what Hollywood shits out) Documentaries are really cool, at least the worthwhile ones. Sometimes truth bitch-slaps fiction. Oh, and The Notebook is cool IF you are watching with a hot chick. (You know who you are) ;)
TV sucks for the most part. There are some good things that come out though. Examples are Sopranos, Rescue Me, Deadwood, Simpsons (up to the 10th season), Family Guy, South Park, Scrubs, and yes... Spongebob! At least I can admit it!
I like to read whatever grabs my interest. My favorite author is Irvine Welsh, the genius who brought us Trainspotting, among other greats. Stephen King has had his moments. I also like Robert Young Pelton. Dude has cajones. From my young days, I'm a BIG fan of Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for those of you not in the know) as he wrote some of the best stories ever. He even has some awesome short stories for us "old" people. (Check out Omnibus) I like reading the greats too, from Twain to Conrad and on from there. Reading is one of the best ways to keep a sheen on a sharp mind, and to put a refined edge on a dull one. Oh, and if you feel like reading something "dumb", I'd recommend the comic strip "Pearls Before Swine" by Stephan Pastis. Hilarious!!!
Not much on heroes, but there are some people I respect/admire. Some are family, some are friends, some are people I've never met. Celebrity worship is really gay, so no, I don't idolize anyone in Hollywood. (Just ignore that huge Devils Rejects banner right above this) haha.
