Rarely does an entertainer emerge that has the multi-faceted talent that Chris Ward brings to the country music scene. Chris is not just a singer, a songwriter, a video performer and all around good ol’ southern gentleman, but has been labeled ‘The Voice’ by some of his famous peers, and it doesn't stop there. As an entertainer, Chris brings an electrifying stage presence to his performances that leave his fans in awe and satisfied, but always wanting more.Chris would say music is in his blood and always has been. He started playing the guitar and singing in his early childhood. His mother and father always encouraged Chris to pursue his talent and with their love and support, he evolved and grew as a musician and a singer.Like any entertainer, trying to make it in the music industry, Chris also endured a series of setbacks and disappointments that served to make him stronger, more determined, a better entertainer and all-around better person in the long run. Like Chris says in one of his songs, "What don't kill you makes you stronger.”After moving to Nashville in the nineties, Chris worked as a demo singer, often singing many now-famous country songs that were eventually cut by other artists including Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, and George Strait. This was the crucial period where Chris fine-tuned his raw talent and started becoming the polished and professional artist that he is today. Many notable songwriters and famous singers heard Chris on these demos and wondered who the voice belonged to. That’s where he earned the title, “The Voice.”While Chris earned his living as a demo singer in Nashville, it was during this period that Chris was discovered by the legendary producer James Stroud, who was President of Giant records at that time. Stroud quickly recognized the charisma and kick-ass talent that Chris possessed, and took Chris under his wing. Chris was invited to join Giant records along with his record label friends, Clay Walker and Darrell Singletary. While Chris enjoyed the production of his debut album, One Step Beyond, he was met by another surprise; having been a songwriter for Kicking Bird Music, Chris co-wrote a song called "See Ya" for the band, "Confederate Railroad,” for their 1995 release of “When and Where.” This was a very big hit for them and was again featured on their Greatest Hits cd, released in 1996 and then again on their 2008 release, “Confederate Railroad - Very Best Of Confederate Railroad.” This, along with his own hit songs, shows that Chris is an incredibly talented songwriter, as well as musician, singer and performer.During this time in his career, Chris became very good friends with Charlie Daniels, who encouraged Chris to continue to pursue the dream. In fact, Chris and Charlie have played many charity benefits together, where he continues his art and the pursuit of the dream.Although Chris enjoys playing in large concert halls and arenas, it was not uncommon to find Chris playing his guitar in a small honky tonk in or around music row. Chris is the kind of man that won't forget where he came from. He naturally feels a little uncomfortable with the "star treatment". In fact, sometimes Chris needs to be reminded that he is a star.To see Chris in concert is truly an experience not to be forgotten. Whether he is playing a charity or opening a gig for Dwight Yokum, Alan Jackson, Mark Chestnut or Billy Ray Cyrus, it's very common to see standing ovations at the end of his performance.Chris will continue his art, entertain his fans, remain humble and charitable, and in his own words “To sum it up, the history of Chris Ward, is not as important as the continuing story is. Render forth".
