Most people know what embroidery is, but there are some limitations. The most common limitation we keep encountering are logos with small text included. When stitching out such small text, it becomes small blobs of stiching. The best rule of thumb we can pass on is that text should be no smaller than 3/8", down to 1/4" on some selected fonts. With the DTG there are NO limitations since it is being printed out. I've had a lot of people asking what DTG (Direct-To-Garment) Printing is. Here's an article I found that describes it better than I can...
""Direct to Garment Printing (DTG):
DTG is a relatively new fabric printing method that prints an image directly onto a garment or fabric through what is essentially a modified version of a traditional inkjet printer. Think of a regular inkjet printer which has been modified to “accept†garments instead of paper. The ink is printed directly onto fabric which results in exceptional “hand†(common term in the industry referring to how a garment feels once the image or design has been printed on it), and offers more flexibility than screenprinting in terms of color variation and turn-around time (especially for smaller orders).
Originally it was best suited for light garments as white ink was not available. As the technology continues to advance, however, major DTG printing providers are adding dark garments to their lists.
Since the technology is relatively new it is more likely that small to medium-sized businesses will be able to incorporate a DTG printer into their operation as they are quite expensive. To give you an idea, I was at a trade show in Atlantic City marveling at a DTG printer in the process of printing a t-shirt when I was told the machine would cost upwards of US$10,000""
We are preparing to send out samples and sample quotes to smaller comic book publishers and comic book related companies in hopes of adding them to our list of clientele. We are not limited to just comic related customers. We also welcome any and all who are interested in checking us out.
We are tossing around ideas and believe we have come up with a solution to the smaller companies not wanting to have to handle the stock of apparel. We are also no requiring a certain number of items per order. We accept an order for 100 items the same as an order for 2 items or 1000 items. Also we have a solution that will have start up cost nearly non-existent for our clients. We feel, what we have to offer, will be nearly impossible to turn down. As most people know, we comic enthusiasts have long wanted to wear our favorite characters on clothing. We are making it possible for the smaller companies to compete with the larger companies. So check out our website. Email or call Mike with any questions or concerns. It doesn't cost anything for us to answer your questions. We even offer a free no-obligation sample of your design on a t-shirt.
FYI
All designs that are copyrighted/registered must be accompanied by a signed agreement from the owner of the copyright/registration that we, 2 Bears LLC, have permission to use their image on a shirt, etc. Without a signed statement, we will not use a copyrighted/registered design. We will send the agreement form out once we have the approval to create shirts from our clients
Check out our website at www.2bears.biz and feel free to contact Mike with any questions at [email protected] or 317-823-1607. Our website is currently being updated to have our own shirts and that of our clients put on for sale. This is not a requirement of our clients. It is an added bonus we are supplying to our clients that want to use it.
Our first comic related client is Dark Horse Comics. We have just finished our initial order for embroidering the 3 circular patches for The Umbrella Academy comic, created by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. This project was extremely exciting for me because I'm a 39 yrs old comic book collector who also loves alternative music. I've amassed a comic collection of over 30,000 comics dating back to the '60's or earlier.
As for myself, I currently I collect around 150-200 books a month. My favorites include many from the top 5 companies but also a bunch of the Indies like General Jack Cosmo, Pride Comics, Class Comics, Aspen, Digital Webbing, etc. If you don't see your comic listed below, drop me an email and I'll give it a try.
