My name is David Musick. I was born into a musickal family, in the city of Oildale, California near Bakersfield on August 18, 1949. I'm glad that it happened; because in spite of life and the way things go sometimes; It's been a good life so far. My musical influences are Leonard and Marcelene Musick, (Dad and Mom), my Granddaddy, Russell W. Smith and his love for Sacred Harp Music, the love of family and dogged perseverance and tenacity from my grandparents Arthur and Janie Musick; Bakersfield California styled C&W, Southern Gospel, The Austin Sound, Southern Rock, all forms of Folk music, Black Gospel, Texas Swing, New Orleans jazz and Blues, Bluegrass, Sacred Harp, Celtic Irish sounds, Middle Eastern music, Indian music, Classical and Native American music and sounds. I graduated from Van High School in Van, Texas in 1968. From there was awarded a music scholarship from Tyler Jr. College studying Art and English as a minor. Then later attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College in 1969 for preparation in the ministry; but later joined the military at the height of the Viet Nam war to do my part. I have traveled the world and sang and played in churches and Concert Halls with three different Southern Gospel groups. I've ministered in Coffee Houses, on College Campuses, from California to Germany for 40 years. My wife Debbie and I have ministered together in Prisons, Jails, Independent Full-Gospel Churches and in Nursing Homes for 30 years. She has written many of our songs that we sing. I'm just a guy who likes music and loves the Lord. The songs now posted are all my own music. We are Independent Minister's of the Gospel, (as every believer should be), and we are writers and composers of Christian ballads, folk music and alternative Christian music. I make no claim at being a slick, polished professional; I'm here to bring a message of hope and lift up the LIVING GOD before men of low degree like myself, not pump-up "self" and promote my own agenda. I collaborates with family members and other musicians especially my son-in-laws and daughters. Also, when we are together, I love jammin' with my brother Tom (who is a good musician in his own right). Much of what I do say, write and sing, gets a great deal of encouragement and input from my lovely wife Debbie and also the belief that it is a blessing to the Body of Christ; that is all that matters to me. Currently, my children have a couple of groups called The Western Sky Pilots, White Paper Theory and Chainsaw Beautiful, with whom I often sing and play at various venues. What can I say!! My family are all talented musically as well. All of my kids have amazing talents, from art, poetry, song-writing and music to photography. Music, poetry and art belongs to the people, it is their expression and communication when all else fails. It is for the Glory of God and His people that I sing, write and play music, in the hope that the people may be encouraged and blessed. I play a few instruments to include; the Piano, the Keyboard, Guitar, Organ, Accordion, Woodrow, Dulcimer and Bass, all self-taught, and none of it perfect. I am an American. My European genealogy puts us the New World in 1690. My Native American roots are traceable back three generation that we know of. My family has been in every war since the Revolution, and have died on foreign soil in defence of the Constitution. I am a retired military medic and a nurse and veteran of one conflict and a war. This is my view: Peace is the only alternative. I know of the keeping and saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ; He truly is ALL IN ALL. I have been blessed with a wonderful family. My beautiful wife Deborah is my support, (personal photographer), best friend and partner through wherever life takes us. I have ten gorgeous daughters; (Christie, Misty, Kimberly, Mia, Amanda, Courtney, Kristen, Jessica, Angela and Chelsea) and some great son-in-laws. My grandchildren are amazing and I love all twelve of them. Listen to the music and lyrics of theses songs and you'll get a glimpse into the heart of the God I serve from my perspective.
