"The Haters Can Hate But Can't Stop What's Great" That's My Motto For Ever Man Don't Make No Mistake!!!!!What do you call: gifted wordplay, lyrical dexterity, and tenacious hustle; packaged as a player, a prophet and a poet? There can only be one name: Mi$cell@neou$. From the breeding ground of legendary 20th (and 21st) century artists, that is DC, comes the freshest talent this side of the Mason-Dixon.Started in 1998, the original Mi$cell@neou$ was a collective of 13 friends at Eastern Senior High School. Since then, the active members have dwindled down to 4 core members: 25 year-old Punchline Kid, born Rashad Gibson; 27 year-old Young Rebel, born Wayne Sparks; Packy and Vet. Born and raised in Southeast, DC, Punchline and Pack created a foundation for the team by lyrically destroying and humiliating any competition in Eastern. At the same time, Young Rebel was perfecting his craft and looking forward to the opportunity to display his own brand of “renegade rapâ€. With Punchline’s superior narrative abilities and witty insights providing a perfect compliment to Packy’s gritty, hyper-realistic street sensibilities, it wasn’t long before their regular high school performances brought them to the attention of their neighborhood rap veterans, The Circle Boys. After hooking up with The Circle Boys, in 2000, Mi$cell@neou$ began performing regularly: at Studio 63 in Capitol Heights, MD as part of a weekly local talent showcase; multiple shows for local radio legends at 2K9 and Club Johanna’s on Georgia Avenue, cementing their prescence in the DC rap scene. In 2001, The Circle Boys connection also led to touring opportunities and performances in North Carolina. The time spent with the Circle Boys was an invaluable learning experience. Ultimately, the relationship deteriorated and, in 2002, Mi$cell@neou$ and the Circle Boys parted ways. For personal reasons, the remaining four members disbanded to pursue their individual endeavors. After a four year hiatus, in 2006, Mi$cellaneou$ returned to the studio. Consistently working through the year, Punchline Kid and Young Rebel are ready to reintroduce the world to Mi$cell@neou$. As fathers, performers and artists; Mi$cell@neou$ display dynamic versatility, unrelenting drive and undeniable talent. Whether it’s entertaining anecdotes; vivid depictions of District street life; or controversial editorials, Mi$cell@neou$ provides a near perfect representation of the average young, black male in the Nation’s Capital. As Young Rebel puts it, “Our music is an expression of us, our families, our city and our neighborhoods.â€
