Formed in 2007 as a side project for members of local metal bands, Graethor was conceived as a sort of tribute to Black Metal as a genre, as the stylings were known in the loate 80's/early 90's. It was intended to bring it back to its roots - raw, and just plain dark. Playing a limited amount of live shows with excellent feedback, Graethor appealed to many Black Metal purists and enthusiasts, drawing comparisons to Darkthrone, Burzum, and Tormentor. They were truly more influenced by this time period for Black Metal, recieving its influences from these bands, in addition to the originators of the name itself, Venom, in addition to Mercyful Fate or Celtic Frost, and some early European thrash metal as well.This Myspace is a tribute to the original lineup, as they have all had to return to their original bands, or continued the band with different members, and different musical intention. The songs speak for themselves, and are not for the fainthearted, or those who just don't get Black Metal, or have a different idea of the modern form. Evangelical Christians should simply move on from this site, this was meant to offend you, in addition to express our love for the darkness, and indulge our fascination therof. Release of material will be updated as it comes, so asking for it until we say it is released is pointless.
