An anointed group of young people that don’t mind praising the Lord. Mike Johnson and Divine Purpose was organized during the summer of 2001. Mike’s vision from God was to start his own music ministry not knowing the plans that God had in store for this group. In spite of Mike Johnson and Divine Purpose’s ups and downs, because of Mike’s obedient call to the will of God the group has been together for 6 years and they are blessed to have dedicated and faithful members. Mike Johnson and Divine Purpose recorded their first CD entitled “Because He Lives” in 2004, and the album was released in 2005. The album provides true blessings and it can be used as a resource for uplifting the soul.
Mike Johnson and Divine Purpose have performed at local Washington, DC metropolitan area churches, as well as churches around the United States. They have also performed at various gospel functions including Unifest, Gospel plays, banquets, television recordings, weddings, funerals, Gospel Live restaurant, prayer breakfasts, the Virginia Jail Ministry, GMWA-Music Conference in New York, opened for Karen Clark-Sheard in Richmond, VA, and they even have shared the stage with the honorable Dr. Bobby Jones in Manhattan, New York.
Although Mike Johnson and Divine Purpose started with nine female vocalists plus Johnson himself, God has blessed the group throughout the years with many male vocalists and today the anointed group continues to grow physically and most of all spiritually. Mike Johnson and Divine Purpose are looking forward to recording their second CD in the near future. When you lean and depend on Jesus, not only will you expect blessings, but you will truly experience the blessings of God and what he has in store for you... ..
