Background Artist:
Melody HayLovin' Life!

Deborah Randall (Director/Designer) founded Venus almost a decade ago as a nonprofit org. Deborah is a published playwright. Her play Molly Daughter is in an anthology entitled, Anthracite! An Anthology of Pennsylvania Coal Region Plays (ISBN: 1-58966-117-7). Published by the University of Scranton Press and distributed by the Chicago University Press. She remains amazed that her work is actually the homework of some young people these days. Deb directed her first play in 1986. Curve Magazine Play of the Year Awards went to two world premieres she directed at Venus in 2004 and 2005 respectively: Ugly Ducklings and Cigarettes and Moby Dick. Ugly Ducklings was also nominated for a prestigious American Theater Critics Award and over the past four years other productions have occurred as well as a Fawn Yacker Documentary. And Ugly Duckling Kits now exist and are distributed in some schools to teach tolerance in Maine with Hardy Girls a new nonprofit org rising up out of the project. In addition to running Venus while both awake and asleep, Deborah is also a Theatre Educator with the Helen Hayes Legacy Project where she travels into DC Public Schools and teaches theatre workshops.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Equality-minded people who want to get off of the couch and come out and see a show!People who believe in the power of the performing arts. In the direct connection of live work. Individuals who agree that the most radical thing to do in these tough-news times is to dance around like a fool and laugh til you can't laugh anymore. These are clips from my Molly Project. A solo show that is published in "Anthracite! An Anthology of Pennsylvania Coal Region Plays." Edited by Philip Mosley ISBN: 1-58966-117-6

My Blog

Remember.

This is an interesting sentiment.  Eight years ago today we experienced a great collective loss.  And it left craters in our social fabric, our trust, our American belief system - that in the end thin...
