Radical Turf

About Me

Radical Turf Records began in 2004 with the purpose of releasing 'various artists' compilations that feature experimental, off-beat electronic music. 3 compilations and 2 full-length releases later, Radical Turf continues to evolve as a medium for forward thinking artists to create and distribute original music without the limitations or hangups of trends, fashion directives or corporate ideals.
"Lo-fi electronica artists who make special sounds on their computers. Mainstream music is often so polished but here you get the feeling that these songs were intimately created in someone's loft. More art-fuck, less corporate"
-URB Magazine
"Radical Turf is a label that does not want to limit itself with musical boundaries. A colourful eclecticism and an attractive diversity that can be translated into analog sonorities, samples, acid sequences, downtempo rhythms, Middle Eastern elements, Drum and Bass syncopations, scratching, ambient passages, Hip Hop grooves, Techno pounding beats, deep Dub waves and organic instrumentation."
-DJ/Host Jean-Francois Fecteau, CFOU 89.1 FM Trois-Rivieres-Ouest, Quebec, Canada

Robot USA 1+1=11

Robot USA 1+1=11 is the long awaited follow-up to the self titled 1999 release. Robot USA orbits around tweaked analog synthesizers, deconstructed samples, minimalist loops, old school drum machines and mathrock guitar work. Featuring 13 songs of unbridled electronic experimentation.

Konrad: Loose Canyons

Konrad is just one of many different musical personas employed by studio savant/song constructionist Jeffrey Konrad. In the past he's recorded as an 8-bit obsessed electronic musician by the name of Robot USA, an emo indie rocker known as eggspout, and a folksy singer/songwriter called "Nigel Jeffrey" who cut an album titled Struggle in the Hive with Patrick Stolley of Marlboro Chorus and Daytrotter.com. And those are just his "official" credentials, he's also released dozens of underground mix tapes and collaborated on a countless number of other projects with musicians from across the globe.
Now he's dropping his full-length solo debut as Konrad called Loose Canyons; a seeming amalgamation of all his past and present musical personalities all mashed into one meticulously produced package. Combining the old school synth sounds of Devo, the ironic b-boy style of Dan Deacon and the sardonic wit of Hot Chip.
"the record is wholly unique...making this the soundtrack to a dance party and a lazy afternoon all at the same moment"
-CMJ
"engaging...jangling poetics intermixed with astrally arkestral songs"
-Beats and Blood
"Konrad makes music that is completely experimental, but still melodic—and totally addictive"
-CreamTeam.tv
