Take a healthy dose of honesty and soul, and mix it with the belief that even the heaviest of songs needs a hook and a groove, and you have the makings of a KrankNine song. “We write about reality, whether its about F-up relationships, politics, sex, or drinking, everybody can relate to what we are sayingâ€. The vocals are raw and powerful, screaming when needed to tear a head off, with the classic heavy influences of Rob Halford and Bon Scott. Add a wall of sound dual Les Paul guitar attack, with both melodic and technical leads, and a thunderous, grooving, rhythm foundation, and the Kranknine sound is complete. “If you could take a pot and fill it with some Judas Priest, Sabbath, C.O.C, Black Label Society, and Down, Kranknine is the ugly little creature that might crawl outâ€.All members hailing from the Metro-Detroit area, Kranknine started in 1999 as a recording project. Kranknine has two full length cd releases, their self titled debut, and the 2005 cd titled “Dead Dollsâ€. The lineup has gone through a number of changes over the years, featuring musicians hailing from Children of the Revolution, Soul Circus, Seduce, Zug Island, Kush, Sex Kitchen, and The Brian Schram Band. At one time even passing the drum throne from father, Jason Hartless, to son Jason junior, emphasizing the family bond that has grown between these musicians. Guitarist Dave Seymour, has also a guest guitar solo credit on the Kid Rock cover of “A Country Boy Can Surviveâ€. The current lineup features Don Smith vocals, Dave Seymour lead guitar, Tim Heacox rhythm guitar, Lenny Doss drums, and Bill Davey on bass.Kranknine delivers an incredible live show, with a huge stage presence only years of chemistry can produce. For all their confidence, the band is one of the most down to earth groups around. “Our fans mean everything to us, and you will never find a Kranknine member too busy to talk or have a beer with a newly found old friendâ€. The band finds itself in great form, with the return of longtime partner in crime, Bill Davey, and the incredible powerhouse drumming of Lenny Doss, formerly of Primortal. The band is currently in the studio, with their next full length coming in the spring of 2009.
