***NOTE*** AS OF 2005, WENDY WHITE AND HER JET-PROPELLED PAPAS ARE NO LONGER TOGETHER. MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR LOVE AND SUPPORT!!!!!
In 2003, three friends felt the need for a musical change. While Ruben Lara and Beau Sample were on the road with their other band, Cave Catt Sammy, Wendy White was living in Miami. The three felt the need for a new creative outlet. Jump Blues was the name of the game, and all three had a yearning for it. Wendy moved to San Antonio that fall and once there, the music came alive with Aaron Prado and Paul Ward hopping onto the project. Ever since, Wendy and her Papas played monthly gigs at Sam's Burger Joint and Luna Fine Music Club, even making a local televison appearance on KENS-5's "Great Day S.A.". Although the line up wasn't always the same, the band continued to wail with their tight sound.
Wendy White and her Jet Propelled Papas had a sound that took you back to the days when rock and roll didn't have a name, mixing and matching jazz standards with obscure jump blues tunes. The songs of Louis Jordan, Ruth Brown, Dinah Washington, the Four Blazes and many others take new shape through the band's unique sound.
Their repertoire includes:
Walkin' Blues
Mambo Baby
Please, Mr. Jailer
How 'Bout That Jive?
All Of Me
Mess Around
Rocket 69
Long John Blues
Wild, Wild Young Men
...and many more!
