Interests??? Refresh my memory, what are those again??? Oh wait, it's coming back to me...
Trying to get at least the very basic things done that need to get done everyday; being the best mommy that I can be for my adorable little sweetie-pie; carving out a few minutes of quality time with the husband; trying to find some time to watch movies/TV...or listen to music...or discover new music; not that it's an "interest" but, researching my own illness because most doctors are clueless egotists; NYC (it's been a while, but you know i still love you); attempting, however badly, to keep in touch with the few friends I have left; Earl Grey; over-organizing whenever possible; making lists (then losing them); taking lots of pictures; anything that smells like cake (including cake); traveling (or dreaming about someday actually taking another vacation); shopping (I bow to the IKEA gods and pray for their blessings); longing for but never having coffee; dreams you can't shake; lipgloss (if there’s a 12 step program for lipglossaholics, somebody contact me); the seemingly endless quest for my lost brain cells...
A doctor that isn't condescending, doesn't have a God complex, that uses their ears for more than a place to hold their pen & who doesn't have their own head up their a**... :)
A celebrity nanny, personal trainer & chef please...who will of course become my best friends & work for me for free.
In no particular order...
Tori Amos, Coldplay, Bjork, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Strokes, The Shins, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The White Stripes, Feist, The National, The Kills, Pearl Jam, Travis, The Raconteurs, Regina Spektor, Muse, KT Tunstall, Portishead, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley, Madonna, The Beatles, Snow Patrol, Keane, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, The Eels, The Music, Goldfrapp, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Spoon, PJ Harvey, The Black Keys, Nellie McKay, Oasis, Johnny Cash, The Killers, James...of course, KTOF...old standards from the 40's and 50's...and the 80's stuff that's permanently etched into my brain...
Some Like it Hot, Lost in Translation, Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, Garden State, Knocked Up, Waitress, Little Miss Sunshine, I Am Legend, Stranger Than Fiction, I Heart Huckabees, Pulp Fiction, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Superbad, Bringing Up Baby, Moulin Rouge, Royal Tenenbaums, Wonder Boys, Vanilla Sky, Harold and Maude, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Labyrinth, The Professional, Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Barefoot in the Park, American Beauty, Shakespeare in Love, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Philadelphia Story, Love Actually, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, About Schmidt...and I'll pretty much sit through anything John Cusack does. My Netflix queue is so long I fear I'll never get caught up.
Gilmore Girls, House, Mystery Diagnosis, Heroes, Journeyman, Supernanny, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy, Entourage, Weeds, Ugly Betty, Sex and the City, Alias, Queer as Folk, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dead Like Me, The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman, Eureka, The 4400, My Name is Earl, Will and Grace, Mad About You, Jeopardy, Absolutely Fabulous...oh and there will always be a place in my heart for Laverne and Shirley, Three's Company and Family Ties.
Right now I'm trying to read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle...
Otherwise, The Secret, She's Come Undone, Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The Hours, High Fidelity, Wonder Boys, Bridget Jones Diary, Tori Amos: Piece by Piece, Outland/Bloom County stuff, The Fall, The Metamorphosis, No One Here Gets Out Alive...I got half way through A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius before getting bored (maybe I'll finish it someday). My reading history is spotty and erratic. There are so many books I want to read...I wish I had the time. I really need to crack open a few parenting books & figure out how to get a toddler to go to sleep willingly at night...*sigh*
MY LITTLE MAMA
who turned selflessness into an art form...
