BETH HIRSCH: Indelibly You (Got-Ta-Scatta Rework) Download
From the off we've been fans of Beth's music and that voice. Her contributions to Air's 'Moon Safari' album were stellar, her vocal slant on D*Note's 'D*Votion' is up there with the greats for us and a bunch of other songs through her major film soundtrack and solo album work have floated our boat as well.
She woke up one morning, bounced into and warmed hugely to our 'A Wonderful Thing' over the MySpace ether and asked if we'd like to remix something from her 'Wholehearted' album, so, we took 'Indelibly You' on a sort of beats and folktronica journey and... we just may meet up again at some point.
GOT-TA-SCATTA: A Wonderful Thing - Still I Rise
What a brilliantly original double A-side this is. Think of Grace Jones meeting Augustus Darnell in a Fela Kuti tribute band. One side is sensually sinister, the other happy happy in an end of the night Shoom kind of way. Essential black music - buy it.

Floating on a breezy groove, loaded with charm and its heart in the right place, here’s a double-sided skank to ‘methods of survival’.
From a twisted smilers camp ‘A Wonderful Thing’, its words of wisdom soundbites mixing it with carefree thoughts, bounces like only the… er… bouncing ball bounces. ‘Still I Rise’ tracks a moodier resolve where the world can chuck what the f*** it likes at you but… nuff said.
‘A Wonderful Thing’ or ‘Still I Rise’? It’s a frame of mind thing and ‘ma’ is the messenger.
Smile and wiggle your hips if the first is you, we’re here to shimmy. Spare a thought, though, for the souls out there who’ve had no ‘wonderful thing’… and never will. In a way, spare an even bigger thought for those that can only claw at the strength relayed in ‘Still I Rise’. There may be a fine line between love and hate but there are fine lines far scarier than that…
As Fela would have said we ‘got ta scatta’ (for ‘this is who we are’) but before we go, our salutes to the goddess like voice and words of ‘ma’ and all the rest of the gang involved here who have ‘lit peoples fires’ etc. They have all some grace, passion and some humour.
So, as we look to leave ya, remember… sparkle… live long enough… and don’t get run over by a truck! Sound advice indeed.
