About Me

Lil Trouble

"The artist who cracked the hip-hop code is now the industry’s hottest new star!"

In a culture where sex, drugs, politics, violence and money dominate the music industry, Lil Trouble comes with an incredible sound based on what’s hot without conforming to unenthusiastic hip hop trends. This brilliant new star is not your average rapper. He’s a lyricist with a fresh voice and unique style that sets him apart from other artists.

Lil Trouble has a dedicated fan base from Memphis throughout the U.S. and beyond. His new hot single “Keep It Hood” is already generating attention from Major Record Labels around the country. He has just finished recording his debut mixtape “What’s Yo Status?” with Atlanta-based DJ Hollywood and Guerilla Movement Entertainment. The highly anticipated fusion of creative hip-hop rhythms and rhymes, featuring Jeezy and Juvenile, drops April 14, 2009.

Since his career began at age 15, Lil Trouble has had the rare opportunity to share the stage with rap legend Snoop Dog, who also arranged his hit west coast smash single “Bring Da Funk”. He has toured, performed and collaborated with almost every top name in the hip hop business: 50 Cent, G-Unit, Juvenile, Young Jeezy, Eminem and D12, Three 6 Mafia, Dem Franchize Boyz, Eightball, MJG, Hurricane Chris, KG, and Enigma to name a few.

Born Lawrence Johnson in Alexandria, VA, Lil Trouble grew up in Memphis, TN, where he gained his love for hip-hop music listening to rap superstar Snoop Dog. He would compose lyrics and perform songs with his brother on the family karaoke machine. At age 11, he self produced his first mixtape “Cruel To The Game”. He sold the units in neighborhoods and universities throughout Memphis. He was the first young entrepreneur to promote a mixtape in the region. At age 15, Lil Trouble’s career got a boost when his music caught the attention of producer Richard “Enigma” Harvey. They immediately went into the studio and put together Lil Trouble’s first album, titled appropriately, “Situation of a Hustler”. The album put the young energetic artist at the top of the Underground music industry and surrounding areas. Its success proved Lil Trouble and his music were ready for mass consumption.

Lil Trouble was a national top-ranked basketball star attending Angelina College in Texas. He was juggling the sport he enjoyed and the music he loved. During an AAU tournament in Florida, he was promoting his single "Dangerous" at the mall. The event led to a connection with Rob-E-Rob Devine. Devine was the then-A&R for Image Records. When Devine left Image Records to head his own independent label (G Money Records) out of Los Angeles, CA, Lil Trouble leaped at the opportunity to take his music to the next level. He gave up his basketball career and joined G Money Records. It was a move that didn’t set kindly with his parents until they realized his childhood dream had become a movement.

Lil Trouble’s goal is to bring good music to a global audience. His lyrics and style has taken rap in a fresh direction. He has a pop star’s charisma, gangster rapper bravado, and a fast-exploding cult following.
