Above are pictures of the Brancepeth Castle Yuletide Concert 2006. Pictures of the 2007 concert to follow shortly.Helen started singing in the church choir at the age of seven. This gave her a love of church music and choral singing. She soon started singing solos, however, and ended up singing in cathedrals, minsters and churches all over the country. She discovered, and fell in love with the songs of Schubert, Purcell and Dowland at an early age. Then, while studying music at Durham University, she came accross the works of Guillaume de Machaut, which, amongst other fourteenth century music, she performs with the medieval music ensemble, Misericordia. She also loves early twentieth century song, especially Alban Berg and Arnold Schonberg, and Benjamin Britten, and performs Bach and Handel oratorio arias, often accompanied by Richard Martin on the organ.
She has recorded three CDs with the band Misericordia.
This is Brancepeth Castle, where I live with various other reprobates (it isn't always cold here, it just seems that way). I also organise concerts and other events here.
