About Me
Alright My Space, for the sake of this section, we’ll pretend someone’s actually going to read this.
Hi, I’m Rikk. Metal vocalist, graphic designer, college student, comedic actor, graphic novelist, life-long straight edge kid, and zombie film enthusiast.
Some of you might know me as the lead singer of such bands as At the Left Hand of God , Behold the Alliance and The Messiah Complex . As the lead singer of such metal bands, I am often approached and asked, “Excuse me, where’s the bathroom?â€. But I digress.
I’ve done a lot of solo work over the years, some recorded already, some just down on paper I’ll be putting up here later. It only occurred to me now to post any of it online. I have hundreds of songs wasting into oblivion on my computer, so I thought in my free time I’d share some with my friends. These are just humble home recordings I do myself, so do have mercy.
SONG INFO
Fade to Black
As melodramatic as it may sound, I honestly don't think I'd be here without this song. I finally got my hands on those Metallica master tracks floating around and thought I'd pay tribute to this amazing tune by butchering it like I have, ha ha. It's just the same as the Ride the Lighting version, but I added my own keys and I gave James a rest and put my own vocals on it. Enjoy it while you can before Lars sues me.
At the Left Hand of God - An Anthem for Honor:
Just the latest in ATLHOG goodness.
Watch it All Burn:
Just an epic litttle tune written by Ben Grace (previously of Decimus) that I put vocals to. Easily my favorite of what I've got posted here. Ben - you rock my man!
Gone Away:
I’ve always been quite fond of this song ever since I heard it way back in probably seventh grade. I’m not a big punk fan, but I can dig some old school Offspring for sure. This song meant a lot to me in my lonely teen years (boo hoo) and I thought I’d re-do it with a metal twist.
Black September (Band Version):
Some of you may know this song if you made it to the last track on The Messiah Complex’s album of the same name. I wrote the song one morning when I was feeling particularly inspired, and it only took about 30 minutes. I also wrote it because it was getting close to crunch time to release the album, and we just realized that one of our songs we couldn’t record because the drum tracks were unusable, and we needed nine songs.
I was never quite happy with the end result of this highly personal song, so I decided to re-do it the way I wanted to do it - big and epic. The version on the album is just me with a crappy acoustic and a keyboard.
Contrary to some what people think, this song’s not about killing someone, or a pretty song with violent lyrics just to make for a laugh. It’s about people who deeply lie to others and the agony it causes. Of course, that’s my interpretation. Make your own.
World & Dreams:
Okay, admittedly, this is a Misery Signals song. But it’s an instrumental and I put words to it. I always used to sing to it in the car and finally sat down and recorded what I was singing. Enjoy it before I get sued back to the Stone age. I gave a link… that should count for something? Right? Right…?!
The song makes me think of flying over a big city at night. Romantic crap, ya know? Just listen to it.
Imploding rocket propelled zombie woodchucks,
Rikk
