Girl, fly your freak flag!

About Me

I am a single mom, an artist and a professional computer geek. I am also an open-minded, liberal, bleeding-hearted, hard-working, independent, kick-ass chick.

I may live in Texas, but I ain't no hick. I have also lived in Washington D.C., New Mexico, California, and Singapore. I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and South East Asia. Future plans include Africa and South America. Anyone wanna join me?

As an artist, I am always growing and finding new inspiration. At the moment, my love is sculpture. My roommate and I currently make functional art out of wood. However, my desire is to learn how to weld so I can get into metal sculpture. Can't be too much different than soldering jewelry, can it - just bigger? I also have a giant wall mural in the works, the focus of the painting changes daily.

In addition (heh), I am a total math geek. Mathematical patterns found in nature rock my world. Behold, an experiment in resonance and fractal geometry (This is SO cool!):

My Interests

My interests include being the best damn parent I can be, traveling, technology, scifi, my devoted dogs, playing the piano, surrealism, driving really fast, metal sculpture, Arte Oaxaqueño, my pet lizard, Buddhism (as a philosophy - not a religion), enjoying food from all over the world, architecture, gardening, disco dancing, classic cars, being silly, my cat DirtyGirl, stumbling through the streets of New York wearing a sombrero, rollerskating in a sequined dress with a purple feather boa, being awake all night, antiquing, Bollywood dancing, sand between my toes, swimming in lakes, camping under the stars, experiencing silence, contemplating the existence of the universe ... and a billion other things!

I'd like to meet:

I ADORE people who can have fun dressing up in outrageous costumes, get crazy drunk, then do things that do not necessarily need to be mentioned ever again :o)

Since MySpace does not have a feature to categorize the Friends list, I am moving the bands, artists, and heroes that I do not personally know off of this profile and onto several other profiles:

My favorite music

My favorite artists

My favorite thinkers and heroes

My favorite's of Austin, Texas

You wonderful remaining artists, musicians, heroes, great thinkers, and neighbors may be some of my favorites, but because we are friends in real life - I'm keeping you on this list :o)

Music:

My favorite bands are The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The White Stripes. Normally, I listen to Classic Rock & Hip Hop ... but I also like Indian music, Isicathamiya, Jazz, Blues, 1960's French Pop, Classical, and a bunch of other really good crap.

Movies:

I don't feel like typing up every movie I have ever enjoyed ... basically I like movies that have any combination of the following characteristics: a great story, a point, innovative, creative, pee-in-your-pants funny, mind blowing plot twists that you never could have predicted ... and/or lots of sex with a handsome leading man - much like how life should be (except, the peeing in the pants part)!

The following movie clip is not an example of the type of movie I normally love, but this scene really cracks me up.
Talladega Nights - "Baby Jesus"

Television:

House, The Office, Coupling, Dexter, Arrested Development, Weeds, 30 Rock, Lost, Queer As Folk, Riches, Entourage, HR Puff-n-Stuff, The Bugaloos, Desperate Housewives, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Nip/Tuck, Space Ghost, Campus Ladies, Strangers With Candy, The Muppet Show, Banana Splits, Strip Mall, Absolutely Fabulous, The Black Adder, Star Trek The Next Generation, The (Old) Bob Newhart Show, Red Dwarf, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Firefly, Reno 911, Project Runway, My Name Is Earl, The X-Files, Cheers, South Park, The Simpsons, etc... yeah, I know, I watch too much TV.

Fawlty Towers - "The Germans"

Books:

I mainly read books about ideas. My favorite subjects are: Philosophy, Politics, Pre-History, Cultural Anthropology, Evolution, etc... occasionally I will read something fictional from the SciFi and Mystery/Thriller genres.

Heroes:

My heroes include the working poor, people who don't take more than they need, people who care about the earth and its inhabitants, Martin Luther King Jr., Hillary Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Gandhi, the Dalai Lama, and Siddhartha Gautama (The Buddha)

Nutty is Agnostic

I have no idea if God exists ... or if many gods control our fates on this little planet ... or maybe The Q are just playing with us. I do not believe that any human can define the divine. Perhaps someday we may know the answer, or we might just merely be worm food.

How Weird Are You?
Nutty is Rum
Nutty loves a great party, and is a total flirt. She is also pretty picky about what she drinks. Only the finest labels and best mixed cocktails will do!
