About Me

I started dabbling with music in February, 1988. I would mostly fool around on the organ. Then, I would borrow my younger sister's keyboard a year later, playing around on that (and I'd make tapes of what I made). I never had a singing voice, much less a speaking one, so all I'd make were instrumentals. Sure, I tried singing, and I tried to rap a few times, and both attempts sucked...PERIOD. Fast forward to 1993, I got my first drum machine and learned to program beats. In 1994, I got my first sampler, and I started looping and chopping some of the old records I had and could get my hands on. I would try and play keyboards on top of what I sampled to add a little something extra to the music...but i didn't have a 4-track recorder. ...I just plugged everything into a boombox... And so it went until 1998 when I got my first 4-track. As time went on, I started to re-learn some of my scales and chords on the keyboard to advance. As time went on, I started to teach myself a little guitar, bass guitar, kalimba, mbira, and a little zither. I've tried submitting tracks to an artist (once) in 1999...the DJ liked it, but the rapper didn't. I submitted a few tracks to a couple of radio stations back in '95 with no avail...can't blame them...I sent some of my worst stuff. To sum it all up, music is a hobby of mine. Sometimes I come up with ideas and lay down tracks, and sometimes I don't. I guess I'm not a one-track person; pardon the pun. With that said and done, I'm out of here like dogfights in the suburbs. I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

My Interests

Band Members: Just me. If and when someone helps me out, he or she will be listed. I'm not a hog about credit. Let's all get ripped off together!
Influences: Too many to mention...you'd have to ask me yourself. Tersely put, I'll listen to just about anyone in music, and if there's some type of energy from which to learn, I just use it as a brick for my foundation. All in all, we learn throughout life. Then, whatever I learn, more than likely, I'll teach it to someone else.
Sounds Like: I don't know...you tell me! I will say this, for the first two tracks on the player, I stayed away from those types of sounds for years because I didn't want to sound like I was jacking someone else's style. Once, back in '99, a cat came over selling books to raise money, and he started telling me about his younger brother who was a singer up in Virginia and wanted some music to use (good sales tactic, brother!). Anyway, I played him some beats I had made at the time, and even though he liked them, he said they were a little too gritty...too hard. I guess so...I had the hard drums, changing patterns, filters, chopped samples, etc. He wanted to know if I had any songs more in the mode of Timbaland at the time...even though I love Timbaland's music and check for his CDs, I didn't even want to use the same drum sounds he was using because i didn't want to sound like a biter. As years went by (approximately late 2004 or early 2005), I decided to suck it up and experiment with those drum sounds. After all, a sound is a sound. It's what one does with it that makes the difference. So, that's why you have "Quarterly Business Meeting" and "Beat 6-OM." I just flipped it and put my unlimited touch to it.
