Muzik yasantilari kucuk yaslarda Izmir de basladi. Baba AKATAY’in Turk Muziginde Hanende (fasil heyetinde sarki okuyan kisi) denilen klasik Turk muzigi sanatcisi olmasindan dolayi repertuar konusunda zorluk cekmeden Turk muziginin temel teorik yapisini ogrendiler. Genc yaslarda Istanbul a gelip, Burhanettin TONGUC dan bes yil boyunca ritim kompozisyon ve nota egitimi alip profesyonel muzik hayatine basladilar. Yurt ici ve yurt disinda bir cok onemli muzisyene eslik etmis olan Mehmet-Hamdi AKATAY kardesler 2003 yilinda ilk solo albumleri olan DEST_BE DEST(elden ele) i yayimladilar. Ailenin en genc uyesi Memduh AKTAY da Dolapdere Big Gang grubunda perkusyonist olarak yer almaktadir.Their music career started at very early ages in Izmir. Due to the fact that father AKATAY was a classical Turkish music artist called HANENDE (the person who sings in a ‘fasil’ group), they have learned the theoretical structure of the Turkish music, with no difficulty in repertoire. They came to Istanbul in their teen years and started their professional careers after a five-year rhythm composition and note training from Burhanettin TONGUÇ. Mehmet – Hamdi AKATAY brothers who have accompanied numerous important musicians in Turkey and abroad have released their first solo albums DEST-BE DEST in 2003. The youngest member of the family, Memduh AKATAY, is a member of the music group, Dolapdere Big Gang._______________________________________________________ __________
